Props to Gov. Murphy for Supporting RU Football

Murphy is a political tool, don't believe for one second that if it was in his best interest to throw us under the bus he wouldn't do it without thinking twice. The OP is naive to think he has "Rutgers football's back."

did he get state funding for the footballpractice facility? I must have missed that ? Hes more concerned about law abiding citizing and retired law enforcement not having guns in NJ.
Yes you missed that. Time to leave your echo chamber.

He's probably the most Pro-RU Governor we've had, since I can remember....regardless of politics. Not sure if it's him on his own recognizing the importance of Rutgers / Rutgers sports, or if Holloway has something to do with getting him engaged. I also think Holloway is the best leader we've had at RU in many years. I think both of them will be important in helping to change the culture. I mean that both from an Athletics perspective as well as an Academics perspective. All Rutgers alumni, students, the state residents, etc. should be proud of the overall state university.
But, where o’ where is our intrepid AD? Is he in the back? Did he take the picture? Is he out giving away a free TV?

Anyone who doesn’t see this for what it is being hood winked. Phil Murphy isn’t donating any of his Goldman Sachs millions to Rutgers . Murphy is not adverse to using tax payers $$$$ as long as it looks favorably upon him. Still we should be glad the state funding is more today than in the past. Can’t wait to see the estimated costs for a Rutgers football upgrade on practice and Hale
Center.

Rutgers alumni really should be funding all the costs for the Rutgers Football Fieldhouse. But since there’s not enough support, the state is going to help get it done, which is something you should be thankful for.

Seeing how he can help men's hoops, women's field hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse continue making the NCAA Tournament in their respective sports. And getting men's baseball to join them.

Spending money on public Us should be favorable to everyone. In most states especially outside of the Northeast whether it's California or Florida that is a given.

Murphy is one of the few governors- certainly the only one in recent memory- to publicly and proudly support RU in not just words but in money and both academically and athletically.

Lol peer schools my ass. Those kids couldn't get into RU if their lives depended on it. They'll be the ones getting coffee for RU grads in 5 years.

I meant peer schools for one another, lol. Not us.

We're the top ranked public school in the Northeast, tied with Maryland. Outside of the ivies and NYU and small private schools, everyone else in the region is looking up at us.

Calm down on the great job. He set the football program back at least 7 years by hiring Mr Greatest Interview of All-Time.

You can make a pretty good argument that Hobbs learned from his mistakes.

If only certain posters would attempt the same.

Murphy is the Gov of Death. You’re right for once

Yeah...Murphy for sure caused the death of calling Notre Dame and asking how to shut RU athletics down.

No one else will ever attempt that.

He also caused the death of underfunding Rutgers.

He also caused the death of horrid drug laws, it seems some people have been taking advantage too.

You can be so dense. This has been rehashed 100,000 times on this board. He did NOT hire Ash. Ash was handpicked by the other Greg, and the train was already far down the tracks when Hobbs walked in the door. But live in whatever narrative world, hanging on to silly grudges as long as you want.

I think you’re being too optimistic on what that cost will be when finalized by the BOG and contractors. It’s tax payer money he will not use $$$$ from his personal piggy bank. Let’s not declare Murphy as the Messiah returned in order to elevate Rutgers football facilities to the next level… whatever that is? I get it that we are and have been underfunded for years.

Sorry, not buying this. Hobbs hired Ash and refused to hire GS (until the fans/alumni forced him to do so). Never Forget! :)

Why was he not invited to be in the picture? Did he refuse?
Yes, that's the most logical reason. The AD who seems to show his face all over the place at athletic events probably refused to show up for this picture. Just curious, do you actually know he was not invited to be in the picture? Assuming you dont know the answer to that, who cares why he wasnt in the picture?

Seems like Rutgers is finally firing on all cylinders.A Governor who publicly shows support and stands behind the school.
A president who knows the importance of strong academics and athletics. (Stanford for some reason has a lot of grads serving as university presidents). Not a bad thing.
An AD making the right hires.
Coaches across the board showing various degrees of success.
Good time to be a Rutgers student and and/or fan.

Al, in a perfect world they would. Rutgers really didn’t have a clue how to fundraise until joining the BIG. They have a lot of work to close the gap.Rutgers alums are doing pretty good, but giving back to the school ( for anything) dose’nt seem to be a priority.

We have some really strange fans who hold weird grudges for things that were incorrectly reported, when the parties who were directly impacted (Greg and Pat) forgot about those things long ago, have moved on and are completely aligned on achieving the same objectives-making Rutgers athletics, particularly football great. They continue to tilt at windmills because they seem to enjoy hearing their own voices and stirring controversy when none exists, except in their own feeble minds.
As usual ...👎👎
Same as above:

The guy probably holds a grudge with the kid in 3rd grade who put gum in his hair.

I am not a fan of Murphy but I also can separate business/political from personal relationships in my life. I have worked with a lot of people I hate doing business with, but they are good people/friends. Not many people can do that (which is sad). I love that he supports RU. I wish we had more people that moved to NJ that would have the same feelings for RU.

For some, Murphy is damned if he does something and damned if he doesnt. It's a no win situation because of the staunch attitudes coming from political opposition. I wish we never even had political parties to be honest. Well said by you and a rational and sane commemt from my point of view. We need more people like you 124. Cmon over to the Blue Lot vs. Nebby and I'll buy you a drink.

Yes I agree with this but who exactly put Murphy in this light with many on this board and in the state ? When you outwardly cast the opponent as inferior or the reason for your problems it does lend to caustic criticism. I think it’s great for Rutgers and the state but let’s see how this plays out in the years ahead.
