Question for people who want Eddie to stay

So bringing Eddie back is a good idea only if Freeman returns. Very very shaky
Ru has Corey, short of Melo Trimble that is as good as anyone in the Big 10 this year or next. Ru desperately needs a low post scorer and without Freeman we do not have one and that affects how the other team plays us. Ru needs an assassin 3 point shooter. We are last in the Big 10 by a lot and have only made 55. You have to shoot the three well , more often, more accurately to offset against the more talented teams.
The whole roster back next year, gives you a point guard, a low post scorer and offensive rebounder , and Mike or Nigel or Laurent or one of the freshman have to shoot the 3 better. Even Corey has to shoot the 3 better.

So we need the whole team to improve their three point shooting, and EJ to completely change the way he coaches defense. Oh, and Freeman to come back and perform against the Big Ten the way he did against the OoC scrub teams.

And Foreman needs to get bigger. I have asked this, how good is our strength program?

Yes, Yes, and Yes if you want to win!!!!

You make it seem impossible and I believe it is very possible.if we hit just 2-3 more 3 pointers per game and allow 1-2 less per game you have evened the talent disparity. Eddie with a full roster will not need the guards to help the post and not recover in time and the frontline will allow less offensive rebounding and second and third chances for the other team.
Finally, if healthy , Freeman will do just fine as a low post scorer and an offensive rebounder in the Big 10

Sweet 16, no problem.

No but a team with a chance to win6-8 Big 10 games next year. If Freeman does well in the Big 10 and we do get that assassin three point shooting , closer to the 8 wins or 500 in the league. Don't go to the extreme when your points are countered with logic, Stay in the fray, like we have done previously. Don't be like the others. You are better than that !!

Sorry Corey is great but there are more than a few players better than him in league. Im not downplaying but you really are ignoring what some other teams possess

Again show me a team in any league let alone one as tough as the Big 10 that goes from 0 to 8 conference wins. You do realize other schools are bringing in better talent..but I guess Rutgers exists in a bubble

Come on Bac, remember that Nigel Johnson alone is worth 5 wins.

Corey is a very good freshman. He is the point guard on the worst major team in the past 10 years. He is a good player, but only a piece.

He isn't the savior. Just a good B1G player. People's expectations are too high for him.

Basically agree...hes very very good but he needs alot of upgrades around him....not role players and short of Freeman tgats what we have...that only gets you to 500 his junior year and I dont think he stays for a senior year

Some teams get better , some get worse. Ru will get better. Even you reluctantly after being prodded admits it. We disagree on the improvement. You say we go from 0 to 3-5. I say 1-2 this year to 6-8 next year. If Eddie corrects his defensively philosophy, we are healthy and everyone is back that we have previously discussed , and we improve our 3 point shooting both offensively and defensively just a little , we are closer to 8 games. You cannot see it because you are so negative and have been beaten down by this program for 25 years.

We make foul shots we have two more wins right now.
Williams misses a three pointer with 2 mins left we lose to Central Ark. And look what FDU shot at the foul line against us too.

You are so positive ruman. And Wiliams makes shot versus Wake we win. have to make foul shots though.

You expect better with 7 players? Sorry no bench and no size. Bad combination.

Maybe I didn't make it clear, short of Melo and maybe Yogi, I will take Corey over every point guard in the league, from Iowa,,Purdue, Mich State, Michgan, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, Penn State, Ohio State or Wisconsin.

His junior year is when the team has to make its run as a sure NIT team and bubble NCAA team, 4 seniors, 3 juniors, 3 sophomores, an upperclassmen team that we have rarely had for a while. Douby's junior year, with Herve and Axani and Webb as seniors I believe .

What if Freeman doesn't make it?
Darn [eyeroll] ,there were guesses that Sanders would transfer in an effort to make RU MBB look like it will be worse next year and now the Freeman might not make it academically thought in another effort to make everyone think next season wil;l be an even bigger disaster than this one looks like.

I say: Sanders will probably stay and be better next year helping Foreman, Williams and the team look and play better and Freeman will take his suspension to heart improving his grade and the discipline Jordan imposed on him will make Freeman a better player for it.

If I'm going to guess, it will be a "good" guess to counter the doom and gloom hopes that seem to
be the staple of talking about RU MBB's future under Jordan.

If Freeman plays next year, and if he can put up big numbers in the big 10, and if someone steps up to be an "assassin" from range, and if our two untested bigs can compete down low in the best conference in the country, and if our coachcan change his spots and teach fundamentally sound and aggressive defense, and if the underrecruited class over performs, and if every player improves going into next year without any real practice time this season...

... and if wishes were wings, frogs wouldn't bump their ass when they jumped.

An 8 win conference record next year is a house of cards built on if statements and hopeful optimism, not on anything approaching reality or logic. Is it impossible? No. But it's not impossible for me to win Powerball. I'm not banking on either.

I don't expect much from the RU MBB team next season based on the last couple of years and the way RU MBB program's history has been , but I will never give up hope of better days and maybe will get to see those frogs jumping without bumping their asses in a couple of years .[winking]

My wife expects to win the power-ball, claims I hinder he because I don't believe [laughing]

So we could go from horrendous to just awful. There is no P5 school that would keep Eddie after three years of regressing like this program has. He's a great guy and should always be welcomed back.

How about Nigel Johnson giving us everything Daniels and Grier gave us today, plus much better defense, hustle, desire and heart , combined with Corey and Mike to make one of the better backcourts in the Big 10. You are skeptical so maybe just maybe you will listen to what Wenzel said today about Nigel. I also spoke to someone again today that confirmed the same thing. If you cannot see how much better this team with its full roster will be next year, then I cannot help you. The only place it is a pipedream is in your head. Factually the pieces are in place. Ignore and then come back next year with your tail between your legs.

Joe Boylan who coached at Rutgers said about Williams on post game: he is guarding kids 6'5" or 6'6" and has to use so much energy on d and it hurts his offense. I think some of you who get on the team don't mention this. And agree with goru, Sanders is very good. A friend who is not an Ru basketball fan thinks Sanders is very good.

I often wonder if some of the people who blast this team after each game have even played a game of pickup basketball.

Talking about right now. Guys guarding people 4 inches taller and when Grier has bad game there is no one on bench to help out.

That's the problem. Of course the injuries affect things but you can't just throw out the past two years.

Part of building a program is finding productive players. We have an unused scholarship, another to a transfer, and another to a NEC level player.

That's three spots not contributing to the team this year.

We're relying on a graduate transfer from Bradley to play starting minutes.

This is so important. Let's say Johnson is worth a spot. You are getting nothing out of two scholarships. That's why we are so short handed. If Étou was here, and you had a contributing player in the other spot, the team would not be so awful

That's the head coaches job - to manage the roster. Rutgers can't afford to give a scholarship for someone that can't play at this level at all.

Now ask yourself the same question of the coach were anyone else but Eddie Jordan.

What if it's was John Dunne?

Or John Gianini?

Or Steve Masiello?

We heard about how Foreman was the best player in practice coming into the season, too. We've had a bunch of practice warriors through the years that didn't translate to the court. Great to hear Johnson is doing well, I'll start expecting a big ten starter when I see it on the court.

I've never said that this team won't be a lot better next year. Not .500 in conference better, but better.

Until these players put it together on the court, consistently, in real big boy games, it's all just hopeful speculation. To date, Johnson was a B12 backup, Freeman's looked good against some terrible teams and is coming off injury and suspension, Doorson/Diallo/Foreman haven't matured yet, Laurent has shown flashes without consistency, our recruits have basically no other offers, and EJ's defenses throughout his career have been subpar. The only proven thing we have is Sanders, who is showing himself to be a star. The team is also largely losing this as a development year playing out of position in games and without 5 on 5 in practice.

Observations of practice are just that. If we went based only on that, Alvydas Tenys would have been all Big East. Expecting to string a chain of "ifs" together is just fantasizing.

Hope they all come back and then hope you are still here so that fantasy in your head becomes reality in front of your eyes.. You probably thought Donald Trump running for President was a fantasy!!lol!!

"Have to credit Rutgers fans, still turning out in pretty solid numbers. And still not a single notable instance of booing this season. I told my media colleagues: Eddie Jordan will not get booed. He has too much equity with the Rutgers fans who still care enough to show up to games. One day your ship will come in, folks, and when it does, you will have earned it. (Keep eating your vegetables)."---from carino
