Poor NIL is the biggest reason for our disappointing season

I seriously can't believe we're still debating this...because it's not even a debate.

Of course one (hey why stop there...two/three four billionaires) billionaire would be awesome and would be the quickest fix to our $$$ problems. As will more everyday fans giving smaller amounts. And they will both build on each other because if either happens results will improve. If we are in the top half of the B1G in money and still not producing like one then you can make a coaching change.

This whole thread is just for people who want to justify not giving. Which many have said it's ok to not give for many reasons. But not giving and also bitching and moaning about every little thing including there not being enough money from random billionaires is weak imo.
If you can’t believe it’s not over why chime in

Not everything has to be transactional in life. When you invest in the basketball program, you improve the chances of positive outcomes on the basketball court. Is there a guarantee? Of course not. We watch because there is no guarantee. We invest so that Rutgers can put the optimal product out there. That’s the payoff.

Right now it is against NCAA regulations for universities to be directly involved with NIL, so the priority point question is moot.
Rutgers has not finished top 25 in 40 years.

The problem with relying on the little guy to fund NIL is they give and give and give. All along what return do they see? Over the past few years they see a program on the decline. That even with two five stars getting a boat load. They get discouraged and start to question why they’re sacrificing. Then they’re gone forever. They need to see tangible success not steady decline. It seems only a whale can give us that now, but it’s not just the kids getting the NIL that have to perform. It has to come from a culture (which we’ve abandoned), from discipline (not goofing off in layup lines), from player development and yes from wins which ultimately come if you stick the prior things mentioned.

IMO, we don’t have the resources because not everyone is doing what they can. Once we have everyone doing what we can, that’s all we can ask for. IE: Most people are not giving to NIL, but this is the way the game is played these days. And if you’re dead set on giving to NIL, give to the RFund.

Most of our competitors are fully funding NIL, which puts us at a competitive disadvantage.

You honestly think every fan for other schools is giving to NIL? I know multiple PSU grads who are season ticket holders who don't give a cent toward NIL.

We know that not every fan of every other school is giving to NIL. But other schools have a group of fans that give enough, which is why they are able to attract quality transfers. We need every fan who can give to give, because our average donation is going to be small compared with our competitors. We have strength in numbers.

About half of FBS teams get invited to a bowl game. About 10% get an at large bid to the tournament.
There are 353 teams. Almost 20% get in. Further, factor in that of the 353, almost 50% of them would barely ever whiff a tourney. so the reality is that it really is about 200. With 68 spots its closer to 35%. So maybe the expectation is in the Tourney once every 3 years. We're not even doing that.

37 at large bids. 31 AQ. 37 of 322 non-AQ teams get selected at-large (11.5%).

There were 47 bowls (94 teams) with 134 teams (70.1%). I honestly didn't realize it's gotten to that point.

If you are below 500 in your conference you don’t make the ncaa but you do make a bowl game.
