Let's get one thing out of the way. I am not trying to pump up Coach Flood. His fate will be decided by the report, and his on field performance. I am not convinced the Army and Maryland games will matter. But after reading quotes from several players after the game yesterday, at least the ones quoted indicate that the team is solidly behind Flood.

Don't be jagaloons and attack the OP. Just found the quotes interesting. That's all. Have a nice Sunday.

Heeman said. “A lot of us will do anything for Coach Flood. When he said Sunday, ‘You are going to start working at guard,’ I said, ‘Yes, sir.’”

``Coach (Kyle) Flood will do anything for us and we’ll do anything for him,’’ said Zack Heeman, who made his first start at guard, part of at least six lineup changes. ``There’s a lot of guys who played different positions today and it just exemplifies what we’d do for him. We love him.’’

"Coach Flood pulled me out of the meetings and was like, 'Can you play safety?'" Hicks said. "I was like, 'Yeah, I'll do anything for the team. That's how it started."

"Anywhere coach puts me I'm going to do my 100 percent at all times," Hicks said. "I was just doing my job and helping out my teammates."

I guess given the quotes coming out of the Ohio State locker room yesterday I should be more appreciative of this, but isn't this the norm. Very rarely do kids publicly state anything but support for their HC. None of them would be calling for a change and I am sure nearly all genuinely want him to stay. Good thing they are not responsible for making an objective decision on this.

One of the many traits to being a great coach is the ability to get your players to run through a wall for you. I believe coach Flood has this ability in spades. If you look at the comeback victories, I believe those games are a direct result of that strength. Unfortunately it's not enough to coverup his coaching weeknesses.

Yes the players and parents all love Flood. If he is canned they will be sorry to see him go. As a standalone issue this a great thing for Flood and even the Jagaloons should stand down. But they won't.

Barchi and company have to consider this issue but it is just one issue. It is important but it is just one issue.

Also, Urban may be available if the OSU players have their way so we should snag him.

Coach Flood is a genuinely fine man . I have no doubt about that. And I have no doubt that he's a player's coach and many of the players truly admire the guy. But at least 8 guys this year didn't love the coach or team enough to stay out of trouble and do the right things. And because of that , this season has been a major disappointment. And that's on the coach. Being loved by the players isn't everything. Discipline , focus , desire and commitment are also important team values that must be instilled by a coach.

While many on the board feel it necessary to engage in character assignation, I believe that coach Flood has many fine attributes and it appears that he is a players coach, he also clearly has made mistakes. At this point, there needs to be a change in leadership if the Rutgers football program is to move forward, there are simply to many issues that need to be resolved and without all the name calling and negative BS, a change is in the best interest of the Rutgers Football and Rutgers University

The players didn't just say it, they did it. Yes Army isn't a good team but they are by no means a push over.

There is no reason to make a change for changes sake. Obviously flood has his shortcomings, and I'd like to see an upgrade. But its got to be a real upgrade, not just some move out of desperation. It's not a desperate situation, at least not until the report findings are out.

I respect what the Army kids have signed up for, but they kind of are a push over...

#126 in passing yards
#107 in points per game
#78 in points allowed per game

Their strong point is #8 in rushing yards per game

you can respect their decision to be in the military, but it is clearly a mistake to draw any opinions about whether Flood can coach or should coach based on beating a team like Army. I hope to God the people in charge look more about stuff like this:

Kansas 0-11
Indiana 5-6 (1-6 in conference)
Army 2-8
Maryland 2-9 (0-7 in conference)

than whether or not the players like him. If Flood returns, it's a travesty imo.

Very well said.

Excellent points.

Flood hasn't been really been a good coach, but contrast what Hicks and Heeman said with what Elliott and Jones said after Ohio State lost to Michigan State. You sometimes find out more about a team (and its coach ) when it loses than when it wins. What Elliott said after the game is reminiscent of some of the problems that Meyer had at Florida. Meyer is a great coach, but all the winning has papered over the toxic locker rooms over which he's presided.

yeah, there is. Actually, there are many. When people F up w/o consequences, they get worse, not better.

Com'on man what do you expect a couple of kids to say AFTER A WIN, following weeks of blowouts, when asked questions as such? Do you remember the "no comment" from Rettig a couple of weeks ago?

I'll suppose that Zeke Elliott has already been summoned to Urban's office, gotten a stern talking to and is just about finished running the stadium steps.

The players are loyal, but he has no clue to play this quarterback over and over.

Shields, nor how to pay his "Mike" I was watching Johnson and he was involved in a lot of plays after Lewis went out. I like this kid and felt that he should have been playing all along and given meaningful reps.

I would never doubt we have both the nicest coach and nicest players on this team. Being willing to do something and able to do something at not the same thing.

The nice factor is apparent in many ways on the field. We need nice guys post game and mean angry dudes the 3 hours prior.

The decision for Zeke not to comeback was made right after the national title game last year. It out now because he was upset about the lack of touches against MSU. Zeke averages about 20 to 25 touches a game and OSU is successful. Yesterday he only touched the ball 12 times and only twice in the second half. Even in the games where Zeke would gain 100 yds it was usually after the OSU realize the game was in doubt OSU would start featuring him to secure the victory. Yesterday OSU got cute and went away from their usual game plan.

Us jagaloons acknowledge that our players love our coach. Doesn't mean we can win with him at the helm.

In 2012 Coach Flood was not my choice for head coach. My two choices were shouted down by at least two thirds of the fanbase. At the time both coaches were available but the University chose to go in a different direction. Enter coach Flood, he was hired and paid approx. 800K which immediately made me realize why my choices were nothing more than a pipe dream. However in retrospect (dollar for dollar) coach Flood and his underpaid OC/DC and assistants have done a great job and the kids absolutely love him. Are there coaches out there that can do profoundly better than Flood, hell yes! But they are not coming here because your administration is toxic towards athletics and fiscally leveraged (which is a nice way to say broke).

I wouldn't say broke, but more like cheap. Rutgers administration has short arm that refuse to reach into their pockets. You are right about being toxic towards athletics. It goes against their image to be Ivy league schools or even Lehigh.

W e beat the first three teams on your list. We MAY get lucky against Md.I hope that we do BUT I am certainly not counting on it.With Hill in at QB they are a good team.

"By no means a Pushover "? WTF
Our fanbase expectations have now fallen to a new all time low.
Army lost at Home to frick'n Fordham. They have lost at home to teams like Tulane (3 wins) and Rice.
Army was blown out by 41 points at Home by the only other P5 team they payed at Home: to a 6 win Duke team. Army's signature win this year was 7 point win at home against FCS Bucknell ( who just finished 2015 with 4 wins).

This why Barachi will do nothing because we have content, underachieving fans. There is a sucker born everyday.

funny some said we wouldn't beat Army

Once again, what's your point? Many - even last week - still has us "blowing out" Army. So what? Do you honestly think we played well yesterday? We didn't. We actually caught a break as Army made 2 HUGE mistakes, that caused a 14-point swing, and probably won the game for us, so, let's not get too crazy here about a "W" over a 2-win team, ya' know?

We were 5 point favorites verse Army. If I wasn't completely terrified of our head coaches ineptness, I would have put money on the game. Umich, Nebby, and RU have been three very easy picks the last three weeks in our game for gamblers out there

This.
Plus Army was starting a 3rd string Frosh QB in their Option Offense.
It's amazing this was only a 10 point game and relied on an Interception throw by this Frosh QB in the RU Endzone with 2 minutes to go. Fudd has taken the team back to the Terry Shea era.

Heeman was also quoted as saying why he's suited for guard. "Thanks to the power of Greyskull, I have the power."
