R Women lost to G'Town today 2-0. RU played aggressive, but could not break G'Town's defense. Great season for the team. They lose some key talent next year, such as Tierney and Jimenez, but bring back some very promising Frosh and Sophs along with Ciarroca and maybe Murphy. With another strong recruiting class by Mike O'Neil, the team may once again be a top 20 team.

Rutgers women's soccer's bid to return to College Cup falls short

No. 2-seeded Georgetown scored in the 18th and 82nd minutes Friday afternoon to defeat unseeded Rutgers, 2-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

"I'm so proud of the seniors and the way that they led the program," coach Mike O'Neill said in a statement. "Just under half the team was new, and the leadership of the captains, senior and junior class was fantastic.

I believe every indication has been that Murphy will be back. The loss of Tiernan is tough, but, a TON of young talent that got a lot of PT this past season is moving up and that's not a bad thing.

There is a very fine line between winning and losing because of the lack of scoring in soccer .

My wife & I went to the game. Georgetown was the better side yesterday. Won every 50-50 ball. We didn't make a good serve with our free kicks or one corner. Too many unforced errors. Some soft passes to nowhere. Same ref who hosed us in a game at Rutgers started out the same way yesterday. Didn't beat us but helped us to not find a rhythm early. Not sure of his positioning on the second goal but sure would like to have seen a replay & to see if Jimenez was over the line on the save. By the same token, simply gave a good team too many corners. Many Freshmen saw a great deal of playing time this year. Only 2 sophs & a few juniors back. The incoming class will have to have a few who can step in & play. Overall the ladies had a more than solid year, considering how many frosh played critical roles.
