It seems apparent now that we seriously need to address our defense for next year, so we can give the offense time to improve and become competitive with Big Ten teams.

For those of you that eat/drink/sleep Rutgers football, I think Rutgers fans would appreciate knowing what recruits/true freshman do we have on the defense that can compete with Big Ten teams and what positions do we need to fill with transfers for next season.

2015 Redshirts who should impact in 2016
  • DT - Kamaal Seymour, 6-5 295 lbs
  • DE - Marques Ford, 6-3 230lbs
  • DE - Willington Previlon, 6-5 230 lbs
  • LB - Deonte Roberts, 6-2, 210 lbs

Incoming Freshmen who might impact in 2016 (Hopefully everyone else redshirts)

  • CB - Patrice Rene, 6-2, 203 lbs
  • LB - Jonathan Pollock, 5-11, 232 lbs
  • LB - Elias Reynolds, 6-2, 227 lbs

Add Jarrod Hewitt, because he's a DT and even Soloman Manning might get a shot to play early.
Also any db since it is a depth issue.

The biggest problem is not the players though, it's the plays and where they are directed to go. We have the worst run D, and it's not on the players. Guys like Darius Hamilton, Longa, Gause, and Kaiwan Lewis should not add to the worst run defense in the league. This will be two years in row in which our run d is going to get shredded. What the heck was that play call towards the end of the first half where the PSU guy just ran right up the middle untouched for 70+ yards and a TD. That's not on the players. I've seen that multiple times. Rossi has them out of place. He has no idea what he is doing. Teams don't even do that against FCS type teams. Heck NIU, who is clearly smaller than us, was able to hang with OSU. I think if we have a new and experienced coach, this would not happen. For me, it's gotten to the point where I don't think it matters who is out there. Everyone is clearly out of position. And that's the coaches' fault.

None of them will have any impact if Rossi is still here because none of them will ever be in position to make a play. The only way that these players realize any of their potential is if they are coached by a real defensive coordinator.

I would not bank on any freshman (2016 recruits) playing in 2016. First of all, with all the turmoil and depending on what happens on the field, there could be a change in the coaching staff. That will impact who RU will sign. Don't look to freshmen for help. Look for the younger players playing now to IMPROVE. I don't why people always look to having someone "save" things. It's about the players ..playing.. to improve a lot from one year to the next.

Much of our D woes are on the DC Rossi and if we see it at the games and on the tube I would imagine our opponents see it as well...let's be honest...he is NOT a D -1

coordinator... you get what you pay for in this life.

Hewitt already has college strength and size. I think they would give him a chance to contribute.

Have to consider we could eventually lose sum of our top committed recruits. But don't worry; Flood will just pry away Old dominion and Monmouth recruits - And talk about how well they fit his system
