Of course recruiting is the life blood of any college sports program, with football being the most important considering the sheer numbers needed to field and provide depth. A HC who could consistently keep Rutgers in the high 20's low 30's would be a great start and program builder. A good game day coach is paramount to winning in the B1G. Halftime adjustments are the first thing fans notice on game day, but a competent coach across the sidelines will adjust back in a series or two. Red Zone play calling both offensively and defensively will decide more games than anything else I believe. Monday- Friday coaching, though least seen by the public accounts for most of the success the consistent Top 25 programs are about. Give us that coach that can game plan an opponent, field teams of good citizens with a great football IQ, and coach up and get the most out of talent he has, and you will have a 8-10 win Rutgers team almost every year. If I had to put a number to the three phases,I'd say, 30% recruiting, 20% game day coaching, and 50% Monday- Friday coaching.
