Was watching Illini vs Wisky. No horse in this game...but Wisky was mugged several times (guys hacking the ball handler as long as there's a chance for a "fumble"...er ah turnover).

If basketball is going to become football sans the helmets / pads so be it. But I truthfully think that some refs call these fouls, others let them play, others don't call the fouls in the first half but do if there's 2 mins to go in the game.

Too many variables and not enough substance to WTF a foul is...and when it's called.

Call the fouls when they are supposed to be called from the get go and what is or is not called balances itself out.

Taking into account score and time as the game goes into crunch time is OK as long as the calls that need to be made are, and over officiating doesn’t occur.

I think what we’ve seen happen as RU fans is out guys clearly being fouled with no calls and then ticky tacky fouls.called at some point later in when the refs feel it’s their time to make more of an impact on the game.

I think you call it straight up for the first 35 minutes and then get smarter in the last 5 minutes if it’s close. Never over officiate and always call the obvious.

The biggest problem with officiating is that they change the definition of a foul during the course of the game

There is always going to be officials who call a tighter game ...and some calling it much looser and let them play

The key is that good officials keep how they are calling the game the same minute one through minute 40. Regardless of score, and how many players foul out

This is the biggest issues right now in officiating ...and it’s getting worse

The other part is officials need to stop talking to the coach’s and players period. Especially turning time outs.

Go walk to the other side of the court and not talk to either team

Stop hearing their arguments about calls.

My biggest pet peeve. I say just make it an automatic T for any coach or player to say a word to any ref. A bit extreme maybe, but coaches working the refs has gone way overboard. And too many refs seem to enjoy having buddy-buddy relationships with coaches.
