If we can win face offs we will have a real good shot here. I'd like to see us play some more long pole middies in the faceoff...just go big. Faceoffs, to me, has felt like one of the weaker areas of the team. But overall this team is Freakin awesome
I know virtually nothing about lacrosse. But, I have been watching RU and I totally agree that our face offs are atrocious. Against OSU in our final regular game, we hardly won any. The last game, we kept getting penalties.

Exactly. Possession is 9/10's of the law, and also 9/10's of lacrosse. Maintaining possession is the whole motivation for having a guy at the X spot (behind the net). It's so tough to take the ball away. These great teams clear the ball so effectively that it's pretty much impossible to steal the ball. They also cycle the ball until they have a 1-on-1 with a short stick and they'll take that guy to the net. You'll notice they rarely challenge the D-pole (it happens, but it's not the ideal isolation play)

Cali - our buddy Malf has a couple of kids playing for Yale, actually, and told me last night, emphatically, that there's "no chance they let that happen!"
Maryland's transition D is excellent. They were the one team who slowed us down. Our goals last game almost exclusively came in half field sets, specifically Jules having a ridiculous day.
This will be a clash if style and wills. Can we impose ours on them or vice versa. Hopefully we can get to their goalie early. We don't need him having a career day.

Interesting on their transition D. Didn't see the game. I'm sure you're right. Still have a hard time betting against our break out. Hope this game is different from the last in that regard. It sure could be a difference maker. Go RU.

Maryland's d is stout. Top 2 in the country, if not number 1. But I agree, having played them once will help those guys adjust. Hopefully they collectively have a good day. One thing Maryland can't do is sleep on our midfielders after their performance against Hopkins, which should open up things a bit down low.

On the tourney front, Air Force won their league as scripted, which is good for our at large chances.

Towson over Fairfield as scripted in the CAA final making them a 1 bid league. That's good for our at large chances.
On a side note, the score in that game was 2-0 at half and 4-2 final. Sounds like a baseball game. Yuck.

Our middies certainly found the back of the net against Hopkins. Rose was terrific. It would be great to see Heninburg have a bounce back game after Hopkins shut him down. Psyched for this tilt.
I promise not to watch. Have to give RU some chance to win.

The game is being played at Hopkins. Definitely going to be a pro Maryland crowd.
I think there is a sense that even Hopkins fans want Maryland to win so we don't get the AQ and put their bid in jeopardy. This might be the only time in history that Hopkins fans will root for Maryland.
This is sort of house money for us. The pressure is on them to win. Hopefully we come out loose and firing and they come out tight.
A monumental win this would be.
