Students should not have closer seating versus season ticket holders. The ultimate answer is putting a winning team on the court which would then hopefully sell out a 8000 seat arena and then cause a additional 2000-3000 seats to be constructed .At that time decisions can be made regarding seating for students ,high end donors ,season ticket holders, etc.I don't expect any movement on further RAC upgrades interior/exterior until 2021 at the earliest when full B1G funding occurs.Once again this is all dependent on winning.
Every big time college basketball venue has the students close to the court.
Not circling the entire court, but there has to be at least 1 section near the court.
not really true....most student sections are still behind the basket....schools that have students in the cushy seats are programs at elite levels which we are not and not going to be.
I don't know if a video board should be sprung for when looking at everything else.
For once in this generation should we have another screen we need to look at.It's already a menace trying to walk on college ave with everyone looking at their phones. Not to mention, plenty of forty-fifty year olds at Costco running into me doing the same thing! Hahaha.
That's fine.
Behind the baskets are still near the court (I guess I meant anywhere in the lower level).
Just need to get those 2 sections CLOSER to the court!
I just do think that there is much foot traffic near the RAC....the stores and apartments are over to the left...why would they need to look at a video board in front of the RAC, just adds extra noise and to me a big video board is more unsightly than neccessary
Thanks for posting this. I watched the entire video. Some people here have mentioned that we're NOT gong to enlarge the RAC. I didn't hear that. I heard that we're first going to move the seats closer to the court and add a nice concourse around the building for food and concessions. I also heard from the lead architect that with the changes in the first phase of the RAC will be "flexibility added." That to me definitely signals the ability to add seats when warranted down the road. And that's how it should be. But the first important phase should be to make the RAC up-to-date and appealing aesthetically both inside and out and that's what the plan will first do.Pat Hobbs, Sarah Baumgartner, and Steve the Architect give updates and field questions on today's Facebook Live event:

Let's see what the architect has in mind. What I liked hearing from him is the look to the future. And I'm not talking about the cosmetics on the outside or the new concourse being being around the inside. I'm talking about his comments regarding "flexibility." That to me means designing and executing a plan to first make the RAC attractive and enjoyable for fans.I like that they want to fix some of the outside of the RAC...needs major upgrade with landscape, concrete....that road in front needs to be grassed and paved over. I am not big on the video board idea...seems like wasted money to me, I mean how many people are near the RAC anyhow that they would be watching a videoboard.
I do not know how they are going to move the students closer...they have taken seats away moving them further...could they force the 118 season ticket holders out and make that a hardcore student section? How on earth can they put students in the 100 levels when the students do not show up, how fair is that for our loyal season ticket holders.
