The coaching staff should have a highlight reel of Dennis Rodman made and given to Freeman to watch. Rebounding like a man possessed should be his role. He has to learn that what he brings to the table is his hustle and rebounding. For him to continually try and create shots against the trees has proven futile.

Agree with everything, but Freeman has to be a scoring option. He is moderately successful in drawing fouls and has been a good FT shooter. When it comes to generating offense, we're thin.... really thin. I'd like to see his shot selection improve, but I think we're just going to have to live with what Deshawn brings to the offensive table.
He is a tremendous rebounder for his size. And as far as I'm concerned, if a player busts his ass to work for an offensive rebound, he deserves to take the shot under the basket.

Or know when to kick out the rebound when there is no shot for him.

I wasn't saying (although I see my post wasn't clear) he shouldn't shoot after he grabs a rebound, on a fast break or in the open court ... What I meant was the dump downs to him on the block where he trys to back his man down more often than not get blocked or end up a forced shot. Definately in agreement that he is a good foul shooter ...

Missing shots vs forcing shots.
Last year, I would agree that his shot selection needed to drastically improve. He was forcing too many shots last year. But in all honesty, I don't see too many forced shots this year. The issue this year is him missing shots.

If he learned to kick it out some, it would open possibilities for his inside game.

Everyone just collapses on him because his head is down and he is out of control.

Rodman could barely dribble and couldn't shoot a little bit. Shooting was never an option for him. He was an elite jumping athlete probably with big achilles tendons and he could defend and rebound. He is now good friends with Kim Jong Un.

I get your point though. Only problem is Michael Jordan isn't playing for Rutgers.

Plus if things don't pan out in the NBA, Euro League etc. he can always go into international diplomacy / occasionally play dress up.

Too many times Freeman tries to tap the ball in or just lay it in instead of going up strong with two hands and jamming the ball. More often than not he'll be fouled and have two shots if not an and 1.

You guys are Brutal

Guy right. Is is a walking double double and it's not enough ...jeez

The guy takes and makes plenty.

If you want to be critical of Freeman, is that, the ball needs to swing out of his hands when he isn't in perfect position a little more and force it a little of this

Short of that ...people being way to critical

There are others who need to step it up before Freeman is being called out.

Agree w Shack. He is not our problem. If you think he doesn’t play high energy motor I don’t know what player you’ve watched for two years. He has carried the scoring and rebounding burden moreso than anyone over that time.
And the post telling him to stop tapping and just jam it...he would if he could. He doesn’t have great vertical. Makes his numbers even more impressive.
