The future with Pikes

Why? Is he a real intimidator in person?
No he's honest and a great person who knows more than all of the experts on this board combined and moreso. He underdtands what he needs to do. But the haters would never have the balls to confront him. By the way he'd still be gracious.

Knows more and more so is redundant you know that? We get it, you think the fans are stupid. Also if he’d answered honestly I’d be glad to ask him questions. Finally, not a hater, just want a good team.

If all of that is true, and I would hope that a professional coach making $$$ would know more than us, why hasn’t he been successful the last 2 years? You can’t have it both ways. He can’t be great and not win.

Due to the portal and ease of transferring extensions for the head coaches of football and basketball should be:

Football: 2-3 years
Basketball: 1-2 years

I’m sure he does know more than us. He should, he is a Big Ten coach making millions of dollars. Taxpayer/tuition dollars I may add. So when he is not getting the job done he should be criticized and when it’s clear we are not getting genuine responses to press questions and gaslighting at times he loses the faith of supporters like myself.

Sorry, yes you can. Almost every coach eventually is forced out at a school. Even the ones who regularly did well in tournament that those around think are tremendous today get canned tomorrow . What have you done for me lately syndrome.Thats why the smart ones have great contracts and why AD's have to give out good contracts.

These buyout numbers were cut in half once Hobbs left BUT these are the numbers if someone wants to poach Pikes. If you wanted to fire him without cause, you owe him the entirety of the contract, I believe.
That's what I thought, but every time I asked that in a previous post I was ignored so i figured I was wrong.

It’s not a crazy concept that any person still in their field should be judged by how they have performed most recently as opposed to the past. I don’t think anyone is questioning the development in the program up through 2022-23. However, it has clearly taken a step back the last two years.

One final note — it’s also true that sometimes the game does pass by certain coaches. What was successful in the past may not be successful in the new full NIL world.

Pike isn't leaving so I hope he figures it out. 15-17 every year is not success by any metric.

Would you rather see a doctor who is incredibly nice but botched your surgery or a doc with no bedside manner who cured you with a successful operation? Pike is the first example.

You lost all credibility when you said smart coaches have great contracts. Hobbs was a desperate moron who made a below average coach with one NCAA win a huge contract. Pike will now hold us hostage to pay him while the program wallows in failure.

Our only hope is he realizes the game passed him by and follows larranaga, wright and coach K into retirement.

OK so smart coaches negotiate bad contracts?? What are you talking about. When a coach does well he negotiates good contracts. Neither Hobbs or you predicted he'd have two losing seasons the last 2 years.
