RU Bball to land Jose Alvardo today, Beat out Satan Hall?

Announcing 2:45 today....should be Pikiel's first Rivals top 150 commit

He has enjoyed a stellar career at Christ the King, following in the school’s long list of elite point guards. Alvarado won a city title as a sophomore for the Royals and had a big summer with the New York Rens on the AAU circuit. He doesn’t have that wow factor, but he wins, makes others around him better and has leadership qualities, said one college coach who had recruited Alvarado before the recent cut down.

“What he lacks in speed or shooting [ability], he makes up with by being savvy and making high IQ plays,” the coach said. “By any means, he finds way to win.”

What he lacks in speed and shooting ability?
Think of him as the classic, traditional point guard. He's very good, and just what you need. I'd love to have him at Seton Hall, but we went all in on another very good PG, thought we had him, and then lost him to Pitino Jr.

Too tough to get back in strong with Alvarado at that point.

His profile sounds like J. Kidd.

Having watched RU basketball the last couple years, yes they could use shooting, but man they need savvy and IQ above all else.

The team has been beyond ugly and it's not due to lack of athleticism. If this kid comes aboard, then you surround him with the athletes and shooters.

J. Kidd was around 6'4" and was the one of the top recruits in the country, if not the top guy.

Ok, Alvardo is 6'4" as well. Obviously I'm not saying this kid is a future HOF'r like J Kidd was.

But Kidd was not a shooter, and he was not the quickest PG out there(though he did play at a very high tempo). What he was, was a big PG who was above all, Savvy.

Article says he's 6'0".

GO RU

He is under 6'0" but hope you didn't jinx this, feeling uneasy about this one now.

Still hopeful.

Sounds like GT, all experts changing from RU to GT now...some twitter quotes make it look bad for us too.

The mantra for this board remains:

Scourge- you are so right. We always have our money on Kryptonite and so does Mush.

That is where we have always had a hard time finding, signing and keeping and developing players. Wake me up when we get a good one.

What hurts here is that Pikiell was so personally involved and yet the player opted to go 1000 miles away to a program that hasn't done much in a long time.

Georgia Tech probably pointed out to him that they've gone to the NCAA Tournament eight times since we last went. Talk about not having done much in a long time.

build the practuice facility and do the RAC renovation and it just might help recruiting..[eyeroll]
bye the way..have those Tax credits lesniak landed expired yet for the RAC project? WTH is going on with that whole mess? has this become like a CIA secret?
