Match Preview vs Rutgers
Rutgers comes to Tippin Gymnasium with nine nationally ranked wrestlers in their starting lineup with heavyweight Yaraslau Slavikouski currently sitting at sixth. The Scarlet Knights are riding a two-match winning streak defeating Princeton 32-7 and Lock Haven 34-6.

At 174 pounds, the match should be a pair of seniors with John Worthing is projected to go for the Golden Eagles, and #19 Jackson Turley going for the Scarlet Knights. Worthing has not wrestled since the George Mason dual meet where he won by a 9-4 decision. The two have faced each other once before in the 2021 dual meet with Worthing coming up victorious with a 12-6 decision.

Kyle Schickel hopes to build momentum coming off a victory over Drexel's Dominic Findora. He currently sits at 2-1 in dual meets and finished second at the Big Red Invitational. He is expected to face either Andrew Clark or Michael Cetta. Both were NCAA qualifiers with Clark earning a bid in 2023 and Cetta securing an at-large bid in 2024.

Like what I see from this Ayden Smith kid. Very aggressive and constantly attacking. A little more strength and size and could be a terror. Who is this Gibson kid being mentioned?

Harer doesn’t even look like he’s even trying to score. Not sure what his game plan here but it’s not great.

He almost gave it away. He had a 10-1 lead. But good of him to hold on.

In beginning I was saying Wow we have a new 149. Lol. You can see potential with him for sure

Looks like we plan on redshirting Barbosa unless something really changes. He got those 2 matches and seems to be it unless he is injured. I dont get it. White looks fine but we know what we have

Shawver seemed a little lackadaisical. I know its a long season and maybe just a little hangover from Noto. But he let that guy get on his legs a lot

That is how it seemed reading twitter. I made a New Years Res not to subscribe to Flo

Great start by Freeman but got a little complacent/lazy while on top. He got reversed and instantly pinned.

Barbosa isn’t winning anything this year, redshirt him to give him the year to grow and develop and then we have a solid 65 of the future.

Thought philosophy has been to wrestle the beat guy? Never know what the future holds, especially in the new world of NCAA sports.

I think that’s probably true if you have two wrestlers with similar ability and potential.
Barbosa has a much higher ceiling than white in the long run. No point in burning his shirt now when white is serviceable. And the extra year of growth and development for Barbosa will pay dividends.
