#1 or #2 Minnesota comes to town Sunday after wrestling Michigan at home on Friday night. They are 6-0 after defeating Air Force28-15, Wyoming 30-7, Grand Canyon 36-8, Michigan State 36-3, Oklahoma State 19-15 and Northwestern 21-19. They forfeited 125 against Northwestern. They are stacked with wrestlers ranked in the top 5 in many weights and will bring RU a challenge much the same as Iowa. They are relentless and come at you non-stop. They are really strong where we are strong which is 141, 157 and 197 so that means we have to really step it up.

LINEUPS:

125 McCabe vs Jordan Bremer or Sam Bracale (Sam has been hurt and working his way back)

133 Delvecchio vs Chris Dardanes #2

141 Ashnault vs Nick Dardanes #3 (He beat AA 6-3 at Vegas)

149 Theobold vs Jake Short (He is a tough kid who has wrestled the best)

157 Perrotti vs Dylan Ness #1 (He is a real pinner with lots of funk. Beat James Green at Vegas)

165 Gravina vs Nick Wanzek or Brandon Kingsley (hopefully a shot here)

174 Backukas vs Logan Storley #3 (Storley is one of the best in country)

184 Hrymack vs Brett Pfarr #11 ( He is getting better and better)

197 Campy vs Scott Schiller #2 (Campy beat him in Jr Nationals a few years ago in freestyle)

285 Smith vs Michael Kroells #12 ( Smitty has to step it up to win here)

As you can see this is a well balance team that will pose big problems for our guys.Glass of Oklahoma beat Wenzek and Kingsley by 1 point in tourneys and Adam Coom beat Kroells by 1 point in a tourney. #1 Gadson beat Schiller 5-3 in the tourney. Looks like an interesting night.

I'll be content with 3, happy with 6, thrilled with anything over that. Hopefully the home environment can push some of our guys further. Wrestling hard is what matters most.

141, 197 & HWT are our only shots at wins. I think Ashnault avenges his Vegas loss. It was 4-3 until Dardanes countered a last second shot. Ashnault needs to be more aggressive on his feet in the 1st period & get 2 TDs.

I hope I can get to this match, still plenty of good lower level seats online (no free tv). I watched Minn vs NW on TV and it was a great match. As usual the Ash, Perrotti, Camp and Smith matches will be very very interesting. Lots of opportunity for our guys to 'Step Up ' !!.

Tidbit- I enjoy going to the other teams' sites to get more insights. Iowa & Penn St have very active Wrestling boards , yet Ill , Minn and NW (only ones I glanced at so far), seem to have little, if any fan comments. I go to Scout sites as well. Why do you think that is ? These are large Universities with terrific wrestling teams. Do you think they have other sites ?

the five MN seniors are super tough. hard to ask for a better recruiting class. a win at any weight here will be hard fought. hoping the guys are amped up, this should be a fun one.

That last 20 seconds was almost identical to the Iowa bout he had where he got the same leg in both bouts. Against Dardenes it did not work as Dardenes slipped out of it.

You are correct sir. If people go to our regular U of M sites you wont find much. Gopherhole is a embarrassment but when you can get second in the nation and the site barely recognizes it you are going to lose most of your wrestling posters. The guillotine is the minnesota wrestling source regardless if it is college or high school or youth.

I look forward to this match. It is a new opponent we dont normally wrestle.

Belushijo and Passe24 ... cmon guys. his injury is legit. spoke to him on sideline with his crutches. real crutches. metal kinds. He is an all american. our first in 20 years. neither of you nor i achieved that, so can we try to support our own a bit with some benefit of the doubt?

Im not putting him down. Im a huge fan just having a little fun. All i want is the best for the guys.

Point taken.

Hope he heals up and comes back even stronger. I think this time away is going to be good for him. Mentally and physically.
