Wrestling travels to Nebraska to take on the #12 Cornhuskers at 1 pm on 1/25. Nebraska is 5-1 on the season haven beaten Wyoming 22-13, Maryland 42-3, NC State and Duke and Purdue 25-6 while losing to Wisconsin 23-14. They have nationally ranked guys at pretty much every weight except 133.We have faced several of their guys at Cliff Keane with no success so we have to step up our game to have any chance. Camp and Smith have to win for us to be in the meet.

Probable Lineups:

125 McCabe vs #12 Tim Lambert
133 Delvecchio vs Eric Montoya
141 Ashnault vs #12 Anthony Abidan
149 Theobold vs #17 Justin Arthur (Authur beat him at Cliff Keen)
157 Perrotti or Painton vs #2 James Green ( He beat Perrotti 11-6 at Keen)
165 Visicaro vs #20 Austin Wilson
174 Backukas vs #1 Robert Kokesh
184 Parfumi or Hrymack vs #18 TJ Dudley (beat Hrymack bad at Keen)
197 Camp vs Aaron Studebaker (he jsut beat #8 Atwood of Purdue)
285 Smith vs #13 Collin Jensen ( I think he beat Smith earlier)

So you see our work is cut out for us and it does not look promising the way we match up. Pray for the best.

Is there a reason a program like Nebraska has only had 6 head-to-head meets thus far, while we've had, what, 14? Do they have their guys wrestle in more in-season tournaments? Thanks!

Need wins from 133,141,149, 197, HWT. This would make it split 5/5 in matches and will come down to bonus points.

Yes. They wrestled in a bunch of tournaments including Keen and Southern Scuffle

This turning out to be a big match for Ashnault as far as rankings. He needs this one. Abidan is a tough cookie. Ash beat him by default at universitys. If im not mistaken Ash was up 6-2 at the time. He has bounced back nicely since his setback. Lets get this oneand stay on track for a top 5 seed at Nats

Ash was beating him pretty good at universities; 11-2 before Abidin defaulted out. Yes, it was freestyle but Ash was getting to the legs and finishing. I like Ash's chance this weekend

I see definite wins from Ash & Del Vecchio, good chance of win from Theobold, a possible win from Smith . 3-4 wins, 5 would be great.

Abidan just beat Rodrigez 10-4. Same Rodrigez that beat Ash 2-0. Ash needs his A game for sure.
Is it sad that im more excited for tomorrow at 1 then the SB? Go Rutgers!

I agree wng. And even the matches we are favored on paper those guys seem on top of ther games. Might be ugly.

Nebraska looked very good Friday night in the beat down of Illinois.
