RU vs Illinois 2/13/16

Trying to catch up through the stats site--looks like Hollivay getting after the boards and lots of 3-ptr attempts for RU.

No press Just solid defense. Illinois with a couple of 3s gets to within 11 but we get it back. 36-20. Jeune with a 3.

I would love to see Aliyah get more minutes these next few games, we could use her shooting more.

32 C White for IL is doing a lot in the PxP listing. For those who can see the game, is there someone else looking dangerous for IL?

Shooting dropped some that quarter, and the team picked up some fouls. Still holding double-digit lead into the fourth quarter.

Rachel is playing better with each game. I think she realizes that she is a senior and there is more work to be done. Keep it up, Rachel!!!

Harris with three rebounds and three fouls. Another young post with a learning curve of playing the opponent closely without fouling?

A couple of three-pointers and IL within single digits. Let's go Rutgers.

Are the IL shooters being guarded? Also, RU with poor shooting this quarter. I think RU shot 50% in the first half.

Well, that got a bit close for comfort. I like the stat site for this game. Usage percentages for RU: Hollivay 21, Copper 27, Scaife 33, Canty 11, Parker 10, and Sanders 10.

Stringer not happy with the way the team played defensively per tv interview.Rutgers did win 63-56 which gives the team a 3 game winning streak and two league road wins.

Very good road win even though we let Illinois back in the game in the 4th quarter. But a win is a win and I'll take it anyway we can get it (see Northwestern game). Now we're 7-7 in conference and have two very tough games coming up against Michigan State and Maryland. I think we can upset Michigan State and go at least 1-1 against the two ranked teams. That would put us at 8-8 with two more games against winnable opponents--Purdue and Michigan.

Hollivay was really needed in today's game and delivered. Scaife and Copper were excellent as well. We really needed Tyler's FT's at the end of the game where she only missed one. Number 32 on their team was a thorn in our side, but thank god she missed that open three toward the end of the game.

Had a good RU showing at tonight's game in Champaign. Illinois honored CVS prior to their pink game with a bouquet of flowers for being a breast cancer survivor and a legend in women's basketball. She received a standing ovation...very classy! KK had a big family following, all of whom we met! Although we taught them the RU Rah Rah cheer, they were much more at ease with "Defense, Rutgers, Defense!" Now celebrating our win with champagne in Champaign! Go RU!!!

I would view it more as a must win road game. Illinois is the worst team in the league right now. RU looked good for stretches but struggled to put the game away. Neither this game or the Northwestern game is giving me confidence that we are going to run the table to the conference tournament. Need to play consistently better.

Anyone notice that it was the same pony-tailed ref that called the bogus 3 second and 5 second violations?

For the 5 second inbound violation, if you can watch a recording, check out the ref counting with her arm marking seconds.. she gets to 3 and a half and whistles a 5 second violation. That video should go to the league.

I could hear all of you (prematurely) counting down the shot clock when Illinois was on offense. Good job!

I could hear the RU fans cheering and I recognized Bob's voice. It's nice to hear that the Illinois fans were so respectful of CVS. She has been through a lot. Rachel looked really good yesterday.
