RU vs Princeton 0-0 double OT

Better than a loss, another shutout, and still unbeaten at 5-0-1 ... first game on the road ... giving up only 2 goals in 6 games (4 shutouts) ... looking forward to hearing about the write up.

As rudad stated, tough game, team needs a rest, and they get it, no game until next Sunday. Too many girls beat up. I think LaPlant was again the best player on the field the last 65 minutes, had her way with their defense, we missed her wide open several times on the attack, could clearly see her frustration, played well at mid in the OT to add offense, but at the same time seemed a little odd as she was the most dangerous forward. She needs to be more selfish shooting and Amirah less. It's going to be very important Nekka, Brittany amd Amirah make good decisions and connect on the attack as ONE. Still opportunity there, but if they figure it out, its going to be awsome to watch!. R still has a tendency to get caught back playing defense on the attack and we lack numbers and have few options trying to get back up the field. Hopefully the time off helps. Defense struggled a bit with 2 missing starters. Need to rethink restarts, have to do better from 18 yards out. Watching, it felt like a game that they wanted to just get over and would be satisfied with a tie, which they did.

Completely agree bees3. LaPlant was once again the best. Not only is she so skilled & fast but she sees the field & the play so well. Just has great soccer sense. As you said they missed her wide open more than once. Harrigan came down the right wing & drew 3 defenders with a wide open LaPlant in front of the goal & never saw her. Ali simply holds on to the ball too long & too often. She also failed to get the ball to an open LaPlant. Is anyone talking to her or are they just babying her?

Provenzano once again did yeoman's work, but her having to replace Swaby at center D makes us weaker at that holding center mid position. O'Neil tried several girls in the middle without good effect. We are also not as strong at outside D without Wiltshire. Unless I misjudged, I thought Katona looked very good there in the exhibition games. CCSU scored coming down her side & that seems to have relegated her to the bench. Hope Mike doesn't have a permanent dog house. Doesn't seem like that kind of a guy.

It was a very physical game. Thought Princeton was very good. One touch accurate passes all over the pitch. Very frustrating game for me as you might be able to tell. As you say, it will help us to get a little rest & hopefully healthy.

Excellent recap agree with everything you said. AA looked hurt also and I thought she should have been subbed sooner in the second half. This was the first game I was able to see in person and I felt that AA and NO were not working together at all. Agree BL was excellent many crosses into the middle that no one got a touch on. She will be fun to watch. MM played excellent also, she can keep us in any game. Can’t overlook GP she is the anchor of that defense and holding it together while the other 2 rehab. Hopefully they get back quickly.

This team is beat up and definitely needs a rest....it will help to get Abbie Roberts back from playing with England’s National team...

Princeton is no slouch. They're ranked in the media poll and RVs in the coaches poll. Having a week off before Delaware will help the team get healthy before B1G play.

D didn’t give up a goal. “Struggled”?? Rough crowd lol!

R got outshot, gave up more corners, committed more fouls and had to make more saves, perhaps struggled wouldn't be the right word, perhaps more accurate to state that Princeton's offense out played Rutgers defense. A rest and getting a couple players back will help, R had no play out of the back that they usually do.

Roberts has been back for the last two games. Disappointed in her play. Mike has subbed for her early & brought her in & out.

Relax guys. I was in Austin just find the term “struggled” in a nil-nil match a tad funny. Geeze.

We allowed Princeton 14 shots, 6 corners & were scrambling in our defensive 1\3 far too many times throughout the course of the game. Actually we struggled more than a bit.

Bottom line: ZERO goals in a 2 OT game.
Bottom line you don't know what you're talking about. No one denied that Princeton didn't score. Two guys who saw the game & know a bit about the game stated that our D struggled. You're post questioned that we struggled on D. These facts are not mutually exclusive as I'm sure you know. If you want to be obtuse in order to be right have at it. You're routine is all too predictable. For me there is no percentage in carrying on this conversation with you.

Thanks for posting summary! Sometimes there are days like this. Defensive starters missing definitely means more communication, that may not naturally occur, particularly for transitions. Good learning experience and time for the next one.
