anyone have the projections?

Also, any true freshman we can expect to crack the lineup?

Early but I’ll take a guess, some depends on which weight they make:

125 Suriano
133 Firestone
141 Ashnault or MVB
149 Ashnault or MVB
157 JVB or Glasgow
165 JVB or Glasgow
174 Grello
184 Gravina
197 Lightener or a hinted at transfer who is unknown right now
Heavy Correnti

Glasgow is a freshman who could have an impact. Lightner might be at 197 because there is nobody else. There have been some hints about an unknown at that weight, but I will let the insiders comment more on that when the info becomes known.

Right, he wouldnt even need a waiver as hes set to graduate and actually has 2 years of eligibility remaining. Would be a nice pick up
Are you sure he is ready to graduate? Remember, he took a year off of wrestling AND school when he was injured. Just asking, not that I know this for a fact that he is not going to graduate. But getting a degree in 3 years can be challenging.

can anyone in the know comment about Firestone? Has he shown in his RS year that he is ready to take over next year at 133 and be competitive in the B1G? or is he just RU's only option at this time?

You may be right. I didnt realize he took a year off of school

Suriano will be at either 125 or 133, depending on where he feels most comfortable, not based upon competition, AA will be at 149. Glasgow at 157. Correnti going down to 197 as he is still is only 220. Lightner will go to heavy.

Whoa. If Suriano goes 133, Aguilar goes 125?

So do we have a target in mind for Heavy? Gross graduated and we can't throw a TF Heavy out there. Need a JUCO or Grad Transfer at Heavy.

Lightner at heavyweight next year would be an utter disaster. The kid is not a heavyweight, he wrestled 197 lbs in high school not even 220. It'd be like leading a lamb to slaughter. RU would basically be conceding the Hwt. division once again. This is not a sound strategy anyway you slice it. Like @bigmatt718 said they need to come up with a Grad transfer or JUCO before they implement this disaster of a plan.

So are we actively looking for a serviceable Heavy? Appreciate what Normandia has done for the program, but he isn't a starter at the B1G level. Hammer the JUCOs, hammer the grad transfer opportunities.

Also the days of trying to grow an undersized guy into a Heavyweight need to end now. Go after 220 lb guys in HS.
Is junior Sistrunk from Bound Brook a D1 prospect? He seems to have some potential. Also is JUCO Tyree Sutton still on our radar at 197? See he finished second at JUCO Nationals. Thanks to those in the know. $$$$

I thought correnti struggled to maintain strength while cutting to 197 last year? Going back to 197 is not going to to be easy. There really should be either one more weight class in the 215 range or recalibrate the exist weights to close that gap between 197 and hw.

Sutton has at least one more year to obtain his Associates degree. He took two years off from wrestling and school after high school. So he's not an option for next year. Good possibility for the year after that though, he has always held Rutgers in high regard and his family is here in NJ.(has a son)

Where is JVB next year?

Suriano hardly cuts weight as is.. don't think we'll see him at 133. Maybe for his last year
I was at the Keystone Classic when Nick was still with us. Someone had talked to his Dad who told them Nick's body fat was less than 4%. If his body has grown at all, maintaining that weight cannot be fun.

Based on the replies from the people with inside knowledge, it looks like this could be our line up next year:

125 Suriano
133 Firestone
141 MVB
149 Ashnault
157 Glasgow
165 JVB
174 Grello
184 Gravina
197 Correnti
Heavy Lightner / TBD

I am not too familiar with Firestone. Someone asked earlier in the thread about him, is he going to be competitive in the BIG?

@wngarbarini

Bill, if you are able to provide any info, was Correnti given the option to either move up to HVY or cut back down to 197 for next year?

Also, do you have any idea where Pagano fits in next year? He is the big loser, it seems, with Gravina getting another year. Will he just go head to head with Grello again?

And also, I'm not sure if Bill was referring to Glasgow when he said he's training with us. Can anyone clear that up? Has Glasgow been in the room?

I'd like to see Aguilar at 125 and Suriano at 133. If Aguilar isn't ready, I guess its Metzler who jumps in?
