Russo to Temple

I'm not sure what "the narrative" even means. That said, again, as best I understand it, no other major conference team offered Russo, yet for months some thought we had Johnny Unitas. The Elite 11 sounds, well, really elite and all. But RU was getting someone no other P5 team wanted. And, when the new RU staff didn't really want him, and he knew that RU's new system wasn't for him, he moved on, and there still weren't any P5 offers for him. He tried to get some interest from LSU, the one major P5 team seemingly willing to take and later cast off any QB, but that didn't seem to work either.

Should be interesting to see if this QB turns out to be a player. Outside of RU, no P5 team seemed to think he would be.

It's going to be PJ and Jahad all over again for you.

Unfortunately you probably got lumped in with the group of about 3-4 TU posters who come around from time to time to fire salvos our way; it ramped up a bit around late October/ early November (when our season really started hitting the skids and you guys were hitting your stride) and then again the week of the AAC title game.
W-e-e-e-e-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l, I don't think they'll be visiting us any time soon.

That's why I think Russo was huge for you guys; without him I think you'd be screwed for 2017 and beyond.

-3 new OL (rarely is replacing more than half your line just 'plug and play', especially since Friend was a 3-year starter)

-No Robbie Anderson (none of your other WR's seemed close to his dynamic)

I don't agree with this. I feel pretty confident in Frank Nutile and Montel Aaron if he keeps his commitment.

Yes, losing Friend sucks, but McGowan started when he was injured to get prepared for major reps. Lofton and Ahmed are completely replaceable. Leon Johnson started 7 games this year, and is a big upgrade over both Lofton and Ahmed. Had Johnson not been injured, he's probably starting the entire year (he's a JR next year). Between James McHale, Aaron Ruff, Jovahn Fair, Semaj Reed, and Jaelin Robinson (assuming Darian Bryant isn't ready to start as a true freshman, or we don't find a JUCO or 5th year OT), I'm pretty confident we can find one good starting OT.

None of our WRs are probably as dynamic as Anderson, but he had his lapses for sure. I think we have two special talents in Ventell Bryant (39 for 579 and 3 TDs) and hybrid WR/TE Kip Patton (13 for 169, 4 rushes for 41 and 2 TDs). Cortrelle Simpson redshirted his true freshman season and has game changing speed. He ran a 4.33 at Ohio State. We will see if any of them can take over a game.

Can't really brag about making a bowl when ya lost ... to Toledo ... by two
TDs.

But ya did play very well (i.e. still lost) v Notre Dame, so definitely keep beating your chest.

<I'm a dedicated Temple fan, so I'm taking a long vacation and focusing on our free board.>

...and you'll still be playing in front of a lot 55-60,000 empty seats, most (home) games, DESPITE your good season.

Outside of the obvious respect for him being a D1A athlete, I never found Nutile impressive. He seemed like a scaled-down version of Nova without the arm strength. I still think you're underestimating the difficulty with replacing multi-year starters. Matakevich called your D on the field. Your offense without Anderson looked like ours without Carroo. I think the attention Anderson got freed up your TE moreso than when he wasn't there.

...as with everything, time will tell all.

<Since I'm a Temple fan, I'm gonna dedicate my time to posting on our free Rivals board.>

In 2012 we had over 50k in the stadium for a game against a 1AA squad (Howard) with USC playing at the Meadowlands the same day (and we outdrew then by 5 figures). I'm sure your Owls have done the same, no? Actually, when was the last time you broke 40k for a conference game at home? Have you ever broke 40k for a conference game at home? We did it in the Big East, AAC and B1G.

...and of course, you're on OUR board while mocking us with the "Big Time Football" stuff, which is definitely amusing.

<I'm going go band together with all of the other Temple fans on our free Rivals board.>

When its trolls are crawling all over our board for no reason? Put me down as an emphatic "yes."

As for the rest, why exactly do you care enough about Rutgers to keep reading our board? I've never been on Temple's board, and I probably never will be.

It's subscriber only, so you're probably right.

You do realize that Toledo was 10-2 this year and beat Arkansas.

Bye, bye, going over to the Temple Free Board.
Seriously, I wish which Russo the best. Seems like a good kid. But when temple loses all its seniors and finish under 500 like usual, they go back to being a forgotten team. If temple does find a way to win, your coach will be gone so quickly. It's funny that temple fans think he is staying. Very Cute.

Large majority of fans do not appear to be mad at all, but rather indifferent. Russo was not going to be a good fit for our offense, and the coaches are pursuing QBs who will fit better. Good luck to him at Temple.

I'll be quite happy when you're banned just like the trolls before you (or is that you) and are forced to talk to the 2 1/2 other Temple fans on your own board.

How easily you guys forget that you're the ones spending midday time trolling our board. Who's mad again?

Confirmed: Temple football fans are trolling on a Rutgers football fan site, and are insane in expecting anything different than the exact response that they have been receiving.

Again, 'all' is 3 more than Rutgers, one of whom was a walk on and another likely wouldn't have started all season if one of our OTs wasn't hurt.
