Less than 40 minutes before his team was to conduct its first official practice on Thursday afternoon, Steve Pikiell walked into a fourth-floor meeting room at the brand-new $115 million RWJ Barnabas Health Athletic Performance Center.

Practice plan in hand, Pikiell exchanged pleasantries with reporters, sat down and looked like he would rather be anywhere else.

This is pedantic, but if he looked eager to start practice, wouldnt that mean “he wouldn’t rather be anywhere else”? Or is that statement in reference to the reporters? I hope I wasn’t the only one confused by the way it was written.

Seems strange to me that Pike thinks he has too many big bodies, especially since Johnson, Carter and Doucoure are all foul-prone.. I'm taking this as meaning Doucoure will be a pleasant surprise.

I think he was trying to say that Pikiell would rather be with the team than with the media.
