Pike said they did in his remarks after USC
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Pike's office to know what's actually going down

Carino's article did say that Pike wanted to give the players "agency" in the decision which tells me he didn't have enough players to field a team.Pike said they did in his remarks after USC

It might not even be that money. The only player I think is a sure bet to return is Ogbole.Makes me think many intend on hitting the portal. We may be left with only 2-3 players from this roster next year. If this continues to be the norm will be tough to follow this sports
That sums it up well.Took a team vote and decided we play like ass and said we out of here
I said I was going Rutgers or not. I live in california and Vegas is just a short trip. Self- contained college hoops at the MGM is a good time.So much for that poster who booked his room already at the MGM.
Maybe it goes to the conference instead of teams for distribution.I did a google search, which now looks inaccurate. Searching further, I didn't see anything about money.
Weird, feels like the Crown was invented for a team like us. Made for TV with teams That didnt make the NCAAs. NIL $& for playing too. Are we a program that can turn our noses down at non NCAAs like UNC? Maybe because we have 50,000 banners hanging in the RAC already they felt like they didnt need one more. Even though only 3 of those are for actual national championships. Oh well.
Gonna be interesting to see how everything shakes out with the NIT and Crown. Seems like nobody wants anything to do with the latter.I said I was going Rutgers or not. I live in california and Vegas is just a short trip. Self- contained college hoops at the MGM is a good time.

The 2024-25 Rutgers Basketball Season Has Come To An End
The 2024-25 Rutgers Basketball season is finally over, as the program has confirmed there will be no postseason.rutgers.rivals.com
I believe if you were an automatic qualifier (the top 2 teams that didn't make the NCAAs) you were obligated to play. At large were not.I thought we HAD to at least play in the Crown?
How did we get out of this?
From the website: "The College Basketball Crown tournament will feature 16 teams that did not qualify for the NCAA tournament. Two teams from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East conferences will automatically qualify. Additional teams chosen by a committee." https://www.foxsports.com/college-basketball/college-basketball-crownI thought we HAD to at least play in the Crown?

"You can pick us, but the only two players on our team that are P5 starters aren't even going to get on the airplane and we are going to lose by 50."From the website: "The College Basketball Crown tournament will feature 16 teams that did not qualify for the NCAA tournament. I have a feeling it was more than those 2."You can pick us, but the only two players on our team that are P5 starters aren't even going to get on the airplane and we are going to lose by 50."
Definitely, but except for Harper and Bailey, you can go to Rucker Park and randomly pick anyone and they'd be better than the person on our team they'd be replacing. If this were baseball, everyone would have a negative wins above replacement level number.I have a feeling it was more than those 2.
I am hoping …hoping , that it’s because Dylan , ace and two of thre three seniors didn’t want to play and you can’t make this work with 8I thought we HAD to at least play in the Crown?

Why would be Grant be gone? He won’t command much on open market…he’s better off staying.this is not a good sign for player retention. I suspect somerville and grant are gone. For those advocating continued hs recruiting and player development, i don’t understand that logic. For us it’s a lose- lose situation. Recruit poorly - lose. Recruit successfully, players develop and then move on - lose.
College basketball today is 90% portal and 10 % high school.
That we know of.Why would be Grant be gone? He won’t command much on open market…he’s better off staying.
He’s not a game changer.. he’s a glue guy… literally every good team has 2 Grants at leastThat we know of.
Great post. It appears that is where we’re heading.I also think it’s only a matter of probably two to three years before we start seeing schools lock players in with multi-year contracts
Looks like a mess.. the conferences made the agreements but member schools with revoltsGonna be interesting to see how everything shakes out with the NIT and Crown. Seems like nobody wants anything to do with the latter.
You go to Vegas for other stuff. Don't think he'll regret itSo much for that poster who booked his room already at the MGM.
Perhaps we just wanted to avoid the embarrassment of not being invited or the decision of Ace and Harper not going to playWould we have been able to field a team?
What????Now let’s fire Pike and Hire the NYU coach
On the cheap
Probably wouldn't survive a lawsuit these daysYes I think NCAA need s to step in and require all freshmen to play first two years with one school before they are free agents.
