"It's a new season for us,'' Jordan said Monday morning during the Big Ten coaches media teleconference. "We have new life. We just hope that everybody plays well. We don't score the ball but we work our butts off and do everything else right.''

Well, at least he is saying the right things. IMO, we lucked out a little and are playing an underachieving team. I find it doubtful that we show up but I sure hope we do.

The BigTen tournament does give new life to the B1G schools that won't make the Big Dance if only based on their regular season record.
Now it's a new season in which they can qualify for the Dance, if they win the B1G Tourney, so Jordan is right stating RU has new life.
But it will be a short lifespan , unless RU plays a full game like it has done in only parts of the games it played this season.
Each player on roster must play an A+ game or it will be :" wait till next year" time again./
The odds of RU MBB playing A+game throughout the tourney is about as good as this board going one day without a negative post in any of it's sports boards and the all the CE board posters sharing a Kumbaya moment all day long

But hope the A+ play shows up ( enough) when RU plays the Gophers and come out of it with a win .

Sure! Just like the start of any season, everyone is undefeated.

It would really be nice if they could somehow win one more before reality shows up and crushes that dream.

It would be great if Jack and Mack get 1 more win and break the losing streak. Other than that, I don't understand the "New Season" mantra. At this point at 10-21, the jury is in. Worst team in the league. Talent challenged, can't score, and don't understand the defensive schemes. Does anyone see tournament run here?

Correct me if I'm wrong - the last time RU won multiple games in a conference tournament was the G. Billet led run to the Big East semis in 1998.

Despite the brutal losing streak, Rutgers did pull off three upsets this year, including topping the top team in the B1G and hanging in twice with #2 in the B1G.

So you never know.

I wouldn't bet any money but I wouldn't give up all hope either!

EJ needs to show us that he is a coach that can get his team up for this game. Keep it close and be fighting to the end and that will be a small step in the right direction. Lose big and that pretty much sums up what kind of coach EJ is and will be.
