Basketball Rutgers defeats Charleston in WNIT Super 16 behind Adams' triple-double

Attendance was 730 for the first game and 610 tonight. It's amazing we were chosen to host both games.

Rutgers will go on the road to face Buffalo (27-7, 13-5 MAC) in the WNIT Great 8 on Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m.

Rutgers won is the main thing , but the lack of attendance is a symptom of a program not having a good following. For years the RU WBB program has been put down and attendance was one of the reasons the program was criticized .
This year most die hard fans just were too disappointed to really care about the WNIT and some even felt RU shouldn't be in it because of having a losing record.
I'll enjoy the win and ignore the complaints , heard it before .
One thing this run has done is lessen my disquest about how the regular season played out and gives me a little hop that Washing might not be as bad of a HC as I think she is.
But not so much as not hoping she's replaced before next season.
The WNIT is now a reason to be used besides buyout for me saying RU will definitely be bringing Coquese back next year

Regarding the attendance - it really just requires winning. Not even winning at the highest level, necessarily. Attendance in the CVS era where Rutgers was nationally competitive was fine. The nature of the area where Rutgers is located is going to prevent Rutgers from having huge attendance (unless of course Rutgers becomes the new UConn . . .). But decent attendance is just some consistent winning away.

Regarding how good or bad a coach Washington might be - this isn't an easy question based just on wins and losses. I'm just not sold on the combination of talent level and quantity of players putting her into a winning position. I don't have any idea how she is as an in-game coach. But then there is the recruiting, portal loss, portal gain, player happiness side of it. Plus scheduling. Regarding coaches - winning solves all ills, as well. Arizona didn't have a "bad" season, really, 19 wins, but there is much unrest over various of the issues I mention, especially player retention.

By the way, I get Smikle and Diamond Johnson may be painful. You do not even want to begin to count the number of ex-Arizona players in the dance, but I'll give the highlights - Maddie Conner (TCU), Vonleh (Baylor), Gilbert (LSU), Gret-Asi (OK State), plus having good seasons but not making the dance include Ware (Texas A&M), Paris Clark (Virginia) and more. I'm not saying that Smikle or Johnson would have been as good at Rutgers, or the Arizona army as good at Arizona, but it is just disquieting. And you are adding one more to your list, we are adding 5.
