Football Rutgers inks Kirk Ciarrocca to extension through 2027 season

Greg will build a program capable of being a playoff ten.
But , in my opinion,it will take a better game-day HC to get Rutgers there.
Right now , as I see it ,Schiano is the type of HC the RU FB program needs, in a couple of years RU will need a doer
because the" builder" has done all he could do by building the type of program that is capable of being a playoff contender under a good game-day HC.

Rutgers might be overpaying GS & KC with he extensions they received> I look on that as RU willing to pay a bit more than they should for past accomplishments as a way to invest in and for the future of the football program.
The next few years may get interesting around here. The $$$ has obviously come in and Greg has permission to spend it on players and coaches.
He just had a good class signed and a top 10 portal season so far. This year and prior, we have had a couple of top players on our team and a solid group of others. But no depth and no true game changers.
We may have a handful of game changes on offense now and the guys he is bringing in through the portal is a step above what we have had on defense.
Maybe next year, we do have the horses to beat the other “non elite” teams and possible get the horses to beat off our back and beat an elite as well.
Will be fun to watch.

I’ve been saying amidst the complaints about this new world of NIL and portal that being in the P2 should be a help in finding the budget to meet that 20.5M cap.

It’s also a consistent reliable revenue stream, just don’t squander it.

We’re one of 34…if you’re in the B12 and ACC it’s a little harder.

The game changers are now playing on our new offense: Strong and Duff. More talent coming in … next season should be exciting time for our offense.

I hope so, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Surace is going to be a legit QB for us for years.

I agree with Lotus and use HS commits like Sit and Wimsatt along with LSU transfer Rettig as examples of the QBs we expected to be good ones, from the hype surrounding them , that just didn't make the grade

Hopefully the difference will be that this time we’re not throwing our guy into the fire. Plenty of time to develop. Let’s see what happens.

Playing for a different OC every season will destroy the ability to understand the offensive philosophy since it changes every year

Very good point. That hurt Nova and then Laviano, who experienced the worst of it when Ash hired Mehringer, who was energetic, but not ready to be a coordinator.

Nova may not be the best example as Fridge did wonders for him as a new coordinator. Laviano I absolutely agree. That first year under Ash might’ve been the single worst collective coaching job in all Rutgers history for a season in any sport. Ash brought in coaches who plowed forward with their so called systems without having the horses to pull it off. Laviano right in the thick of that. We had the worst cast possible for the roles those coaches expected played.

Having Caroo in 2015 was a help to Lav, but his numbers still say he could’ve been successful in Flood (really just a continue of Greg’s pro style system). He might’ve been a slight downgrade from Nova at QB, but he still did a good job considering what we lost on blocking. Nova does not have the same level of success without Burton and Kroft. They were a huge factor. Our fans forget that.
