I saw in another article that people mentioned New Jersey lacrosse has moved into mores areas than in the past. Here is an article from a few years back about lacrosse in Newark. Do any of you know if the athletic department is reaching out to the urban youth and high school coaches and players in New Jersey ? Free camps, tickets to the games,T-shirts,etc. That might help us in the cities in other sports too--basketball,football,even soccer, etc.? Just a thought.

Not sure about what is happening in Newark, but I can tell you that here in LA in some of the disenfranchised areas, such as "South Central (few people here actually call it that)", is seeing growth of the game.

I drive through there sometimes to avoid traffic and routinely see lacrosse sticks in kids' hands.

Do they have lacrosse balls or just the sticks. Could be scary.

Pretty sure they are actually playing.

If you are looking to use it as protection or a weapon, the modern lacrosse stick isn't your best option.

You see a few of those at the international level, where they are beting used as weapons essentially.

With the padding now, not sure those things really make sense. If I was a d guy, you are losing speed while carrying heavier weight. With modern padding, they aren't the intimidating force they once were.
