I get that we barely hung on, and I certainly think it’s not good to not score in the second half, BUT
1) Harryman won first two draws, then pulled a hammy again. Big loss. He transferred here for a reason - would be a different situation if he was playing regularly. Schoen is holding his own, but he’s not Harryman.
2) lost two defensemen in the 2nd half to injuries - Jack Thompson was playing well IMO, and didn’t return when he went out. We’re not deep enough to lose guys like that. I do think the new DCs strategy looks great as everyone gets comfortable with it. I thought our D was awesome in the first half today.
3) Mullins went out with injury during a critical part of the 2nd half (most of last 8 mins) returned for the last series, which is good, but inconsequential since Princeton held the ball for the last shot. I love Charalambides, but this team is not the same without Mullins.
4) Max is a neutralizer. He was unbelievable today.
You don’t need to score that much when your goalie is that good. He’s at 63% save percentage, which is 2nd in the nation. Like in hockey, if you have a hot goalie, you can go far. We can’t always lean on him, but it’s awesome to have him here.
5) The defense looks great when it’s on. Harryman at FOGO is above avg when he’s there. The combo of AC and Mullins on attack, plus Coyne and Gallagher are great, when they are all there. The problem is that we’ve played very few game minutes this year with all of these players in place at the same time. We simply don’t have the depth to replace them yet, but if we can just get healthy, I think we’ll play with anyone.
