Rutgers Lands 4-Star Recruit, Mamadou Doucoure!!

Bit of cold water here...never know what can happen between now and next fall's signing period. Knight could leave, kid gets more offers...but certainly the staff went above and beyond on this one.

no doubt this concerns me. On the flip side most likely it would be accompanied by success here that we can all enjoy.

Word is this kid could reclass to 2017..Worth keeping an eye on ..Would be good for next year and keep more open spots for 2018 once more guys leave
so much for "lots of time for things to change"..would step right in for gettys (probably behind shaq)

Nice!!!!!! Welcome aboard young man. Thanks for choosing Rutgers.

Quote from his coach: "There is no doubt in the metropolitan area that everyone has been impressed with the coaching and development going on at Rutgers."

Exactly the quote that caught my eye.

Welcome [cheers]

We get Naz Reid and Jesus. You said it man.

Is Jesus class of 18?

Now that would be an awesome get. Nobody can cover Him.

Contrary to the now infamous tweet he went to UCONN.

To quote Lenny Dykstra, "I'm gettin' blood flow here."

Schwing!!

“Coach [Steve] Pikiell showed me the most love."

“I have been doing this for 15-plus years and there has never been a better recruiting job than what Rutgers and coach [Brandin] Knight did with Duke. The kid is on Cloud Nine right now. He is so happy. And coach Knight deserves credit for that. He developed the trust. The kid believes Rutgers is a perfect home.”

Great stuff; these guys, staff and the players who works hard every game, are seriously turning this program around.

Awesome get. How does this effect Naz Reid?

Also, what position of needs are we looking to recruit for 2018?
It doesn't. It just gives me confidence. We lose 4-5 guys after next season. In short, I think every position is a position of need

No worries here because we finally have the coach and staff in place to rebound from any recruiting misses. We lost out on Alvarado but does anyone believe we will not get an outstanding PG anyway. Pikiell means business...no BS here. The man is on a mission and he will make it happen as I was convinced after the last CC meeting we have the right guy. It's amazing to watch this program being rebuilt. Naz Reid now sees this kid committing could only reinforce his Rutgers lean. Imagine a front court with these (2) guys. We will be "dancing"!!!!

The first is always the hardest. Hopefully, other dominoes will begin to fall. I was optimistic with this hire, but the first 6 months of Pikiell have been way better than I expected. Plenty to be excited about.

This is a very nice get. And I am confident Coach P and staff will develop this kid into a major scorer and defender.

EXCELLENT! Welcome!

Question: is this the "national level" recruit some were talking about, that is on the secretive-side of things, or no? Thanks!

Seriously dude?

We'll anything CAN happen-with Pikiell it likely WONT.
MAMADOU RUTGERSDO! Congrats Mamadou on your scholarship-landing a top center who will improve s a KEY element in making Rutgers a top 10-20 program.

***I told everyone here for the past few months that we could start expecting 4-5 star RecRUits soon. When heard we only had 1-2 available for 2017 I KNEW we'd likely land a 4-star+ recruit as everything is seemingly now in place:

1) Apparently great coach whos
2) Apparently a very class guy
3) Facilities R improving=Hawthorne effect-by such improvements
players and coaches see attention is being paid to the program.
4) The players are seemingly happy and love Pikiell
5) Rutgers is a very good academic school
6) The fans R great and now seemingly happy
7) Incredble conference.

GUYS AND GALS-it really shouldn't take that much given Rutgers' resources to have a top 30-40 team consistently that makes the NCAAS. ****THE PROBLEM IS THAT HIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN TERRIBLY MISMANAGED AND NEGLECTED FOR 30 YEARS WITH SOME BAD LUCK MIXED IN. THINGS R RAPIDLY TURNING AROUND.

How good can it get?-As far as we dReam! Just look at that arguably inferior NJ school that we R playing Friday night (cheating aside) they played in the National Championship Game and many think they were robbed of the title by a bad call!

Also here:
1) Isn't this the same guy who yesterday was being called very raw with a HUGE upside. Could this guy be the next James Bailey or Roy Hinson. Gonna fnd out.
2) This guy is from California??? If Pikiell can land 4-star players nationally just think of how he's gonna recruit locally here in NY, NJ and PA.

The Hall will Fall (relatively to RU that is) and remember in Spansh "NOVA" means "It won't RUn/GO"!

Congrats to Pikiell and staff-and to R long suffering season ticketholders, Court Club members and fans!

Has to help with Naz as great players want to play with other great players. Makes RU a less risky choice. We are facing the cream of the crop in college basketball for his services but our chances have increased from yesterday. Great job!

C'mon... anyone who has ever watched Miracle on 34th Street knows he's real.

I v'e been telling everyone on the hoops board for weeks that 4-star recruits were imminent-if only by supply and demand alone. Everything is in place (or will be) at this point.

1) Apparently great coach and staff
2) Coach is apparently a quality guy
3) Players are happy and can speak well of RU
4) Announced basketball facilities/Hawthorne effect-recruits and players now see that attention is being given to the basket ball program.
5) Great academic university in
6) A great area for recruits

Basketball isn't football. 2-3 guys can turn a program around. Rguably Mamadou Doucore is one of them-word is on the board that he is still raw and has a HUGE upside. Have we finally landed that top center that has eluded RU since Roy Hinson and James Bailey?

The problem with R basketball program that it has been terribly mismanaged and neglected (with a side of some bad luck) for 30 years!
