Rutgers Men's Lacrosse Ranked 12th in Preseason Coaches Poll & Fourth In BigTen

This schedule allows us to prove that we have taken the next step and 9 ranked teams including 8 out of the last 9. We have to find a way to wins a couple of games on the road and hold serve at home, especially in the Big Ten. we can not have WTF losses like we have had the last 2 years. If we had taken care of Army and Princeton last year we would have opened up 9-0.
I think that Loyola is a huge game for us and I have every confidence that we can win that game. I feel like we have to win either Loyola or on the Road at Syracuse. and maybe both games. We have to get into the Big Ten Tourney and I think if we do we have a great shot at winning the Conference. I think PSU is going to be super on Offense if we can win faceoff's we could win that but I see the most winnable road game in the B1G as OSU. I think we finally breakthrough against Maryland this year (last three losses by a total of 5 goals). We get all of the sneaky good teams at home (Lehigh, Army, Princeton, and Hofstra) need to 4-0 there. I think we need 4 wins on the road including at least 1 in the B1G

I think the big thing is we aren't reliant on going undefeated for much of the schedule. We have to win games, but with the weaker schedule before, it like death if we lost a game. With a much harder schedule a lot more opportunities get provided.

I still contend that Princeton loss wasn't a wtf loss. How we lost most certainly was, but that was a dangerous team and will be again. Same with Army.

Yes. They've smartly been cautious with him. Kid is going to have a monster year provided his health is intact. We simply don't have another player like him on the roster, and there isn't one team I can think of that does. His skill set is unique.

I don't live in the past but last year still burns. He had a great box season leading into the school year and was looking better than he did his first year. With him, we win that one game we didn't last year. At minimum.

It's a really tough schedule, but that means lots of opportunities for big wins and big meaningful games....

Break it down by conference and non conference, I think getting to 7-2 in the non conference would be great...honestly 6-3 might even work if you get a signature win...but as Cali points out, not many games are softies...Army is good, Princeton is good, Lehigh is very good...and we haven't even gotten to Loyola and @Syracuse....the 9 non conference games are tough...

But the conference play will ultimately dictate a bid to the NCAA...

The game at OSU in Columbus (3 hour drive for me) on March 30 is IMO the most important game on the schedule (aside from every "next game of course)...Family is spot on...I think that game dictates league play...win it, and your headed in the right direction...lose and your facing a big uphill challenge...

If you don't make the conference tourney, your not making the NCAA...so this team has to win both home conference games and steal one on the road...then they HAVE to win at least one game at home in the conference tourney...it's a must

Winning the Big Ten is an obvious "you're in" moment...

With that said, short of winning the B1G Tourney...I think 10 wins and playing in the big ten final will get the bid...due to strength of schedule...

Who knows though...I just keep typing here because I love talking about this shit...and it's damn cold here in the Midwest....can't wait to get to campus on Friday...
 
As it relates to Lehigh, that team is ranked one spot behind us. That will be a game. It's no cupcake. We basically two cupcakes. This weekend, and probably Fairfield. Every other team on our schedule could be or is expected to be a player/win their conference.

We escaped that one last year. I remember being on the golf course watching on my iphone. Was having a pretty good round until the game started.

Excited to see #44 get after. Have heard nothing but great things...

Lehigh has Army the Sat. before us. That's going to be physically tough game. We always did well against Army 3-1 I think during my 4 years there, but it's always, always a close game when we play them. And it's always physical. Lehigh could come into HPSS beat up.

Question....does Rutgers stream the games for people who can't be there? I'm gonna be at most games but will miss a handful...I know the Maryland game will be a Sunday night BTN national TV game...

I also see the OSU game time is TBD...that might be TV related...also the PSU game time is TBD...again has to be TV related...

I know ESPNU has games every week...but are all our games on ESPN+? Or does BTN+ stream?

Again, I've been looking for updates on how to watch games live when not there....and I have has zero success so far

Any info would be appreciated...Thanks
 
Golfer- immediately get BTN2GO. There is a BTN Plus. There is a school option for Rutgers only. It's $10/month. All home games are either on that channel (non conference) or on regular BTN (all conference games were last year, expect the same this year). Wouldn't be suprised if some of the away games, like Syracuse are picked up by ESPNU or at minimum, ESPN Plus.

As an example, the game this weekend (I know you are going) is on BTN Plus. The good thing is you can watch replays, which is nice for big wins. Rick Mercurio, who if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting, is a great RU alum who does the color. He's a character.
