For those of you looking for Rutgers polartec vests and jackets, Boscovs has them on sale for $19. In New Jersey, they have stores in Toms River,Egg Harbor,Voorhees,Woodbridge,Vineland,Eatontown,Moorestown, and Deptford.

The store I was at is the one at the Ocean County mall in Toms River, near the Parkway,Route 70 and Route 9. TONS of Rutgers stuff in Toms River.Everything was red.Best to call the specific store to find out what they have.

Do their South Jersey stores carry Rutgers gear?

I have VERY actively been talking to marketing about this issue. They need us to go into stores and start requesting the RU gear be stocked in order for them to stock it. RU can't force anyone to stock the products but if the public wants it then they have a better shot at getting it into the stores.

Mrs Screw,Do you have any idea why Boscovs does not sell our stuff on their website ? They have a wide variety of colleges and military branches, but not us.

Geoff Brown has not done enough with Rutgers merchandising across the state.

I had a lengthy discussion with Geoff regarding that very topic. As stated above, he said they can't force stores to sell RU merchandise. If people go into stores and start requesting merchandise that creates the need and they will have an easier time. I specifically asked him about the Turnpike/GSP and Airports and he said that they have gotten nowhere with any of them for over a year.

I have probably become a thorn in his side over this whole issue. For the past couple of months I take photos of other team products in NJ stores and send them to him. I send pictures of items I see at tailgates when I go to away games and would love to have in RU, I send him links to everything I see online that I would purchase in a heartbeat if it came in RU....but it doesn't. I send him suggestions on how to get RU stuff out there and get statewide involvement.

A LOT of the issue has to do with licensing. The people in licensing, as others on this board can attest to ( @mkollar ) are horrid, don't follow through and make it difficult to get any new RU items made.

RU fans need to make a demand in their local stores and then the stuff can get into them.

The buyers in local stores are usually clueless/oblivious to sports or have their own personal agendas against Rutgers.

Mrs Screw,
Since Ash is connected with Governor Christie, I would now hope a couple phone calls to the Parkway,Turnpike, and airports in Atlantic City,Trenton, and Newark will make things move quickly. If they don't stock Rutgers stuff, perhaps a traffic jam could mysteriously happen ! --Just kidding folks.

I will second what MrsScrew says. There really are two distinct problems with this stuff.

First, there is a blinder-approach to the licensing of products by the University. We have gone from the sort of "anything goes" in terms of logos and designs to an almost Puritanical denial of anything and everything that is not "perfect." To give you an example, here is the current link to the merchandising information for vendors from Trademark & Licensing: http://identity.rutgers.edu/guidelines-use/merchandise

To Geoff's credit, he has worked his tail off trying to get content out there the last few years. MrsScrew and I are probably his biggest PITAs with the stuff we send showing what other schools have out there. Yet, his hands are tied thanks to T&L.

I have been after them on various items and their willingness to license content is just ridiculous. There is no effort to pursue manufacturers or vendors. Everything is reactive and slower than the Rutgers College Dean's Office approving an alternate course back in the 1960s.

To give you sense of how ridiculous this is, I have been trying to get one product approved for more than a year and half now. Just one product!!! Another example, the BigTen Store hosts a massive number of items for each of the B1G schools. The school with the biggest number of products is Michigan at 2,522. Rutgers has a grand total of 567 available. And most of the stuff is repetitious. o_O

BUT, as MrsScrew noted, the drive starts with the fans and the general public making demands. Boscov's, Kohl's, Wal-Mart, Target, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, etc. will not carry anything they don't see as being a success for sales. The more people who go in to the stores and start demanding the managers, "Where's your Rutgers section?" or "Why aren't you carrying this?" the more it starts to click with the managers.

Kollar,
I hope things move along soon for you.--I don't list them anymore on this site because Scarlet Fever in New Brunswick is always the first place I tell people to go (they were the only place for Rutgers gear for decades and have done many fundraisers including ones for Eric) and they advertise on this website, but if folks want to check out places that have many different types of Rutgers merchandise, I have many listed on one of the other Rutgers fan sites.

@HeavenUniv. click on any B1G school on the B1G store site and you can see literally hundreds of items that RU does not have available because they have not licensed them. As @mkollar said above we have 567 items, most of which is duplicated magnets/stickers and tee shirts, compared to literally thousands of items for the other schools. Even Maryland has twice as many licenses items as Rutgers. Take a look specifically at the "game day and Tailgating" section of each school and you will just be shaking your head wondering why we don't have any of it.
