Rutgers Prep Gill game.

There is a big difference in high school where the star player is usually guarded by smaller players allowing layups to be made.Mathis is an example of what happens in college where his shots are blocked or altered driving to the basket.Players need to expand their offensive moves/shot making to increase scoring options.Mulcahy's initial value as a point guard will be setting teammates up for open shots via passing and dribble drives.

I remember talking to Okie about Dinky and he said he was a top 5 recruit next to Patrick Ewing. Blew out his knee early in college.

I played with Dinky at RPS. He graduated in “81, and was rated one of the top 15 players in the country by Street and Smiths. (3rd team. Patrick Ewing was 1st team. I still have the issue).Yes, he would have had a chance at pros, but hurt his knee in ACC championship game vs UNC. (On rebound against Sam Perkins)...Judd Heathcote (coach of MSU) said he could be the next Magic Johnson. Oke had the article with that quote in his office...

And he adjusted accordingly, and then defense adjusted, and now we'll see if Mathis adjusts. You're a pit of despair that fails to see the positives emanating from anything.

Mathis should add a pull-up jumper in the lane to his arsenal. He’s either full steam ahead to the rim or trying a trey. If his pulls up occasionally he’ll get a wide open look and will keep defenders guessing, which will help him get to the rim more successfully, especially with a head fake.

There was a another dynamic player who played with Rick Lloyd there - Stacy? Way back machine for sure - I just remember my dad dragging me to Somerset County tournament games (year they won?) to watch RPS play.

I have been a season ticket holder for decades and have seen players come and go.The basketball program has experienced 12 straight losing seasons and that doesn't happen by accident All Rutgers fans want the team to be successful. There needs to be a sense of urgency to change the status quo.Wishful thinking hasn't worked at Rutgers because the level of competition has been too strong.Pikiell is a very good head coach but so is most of the other head coaches in the B1G.
Nobody knows how the team will perform next season versus league competition. Each game is a individual battle that is decided by match ups, location of the game and how the teams are performing .

You state the obvious constantly. Do we all seem content to you? Do you think we wouldn't prefer winning seasons? Does Pikiell seem like he's taking his time? Gtfo

Sense of urgency?
Meaning what?

Who has wishful thinking?
Coaching staff?
Athletic department?

We won Somerset County Tournament in 78-79 season (Dinky shut down Hinson in final )...I remember going to watch final in ‘87 , (buddy of mine was assistant coach on team) when Ricky (Lloyd) was star. They lost to Murdoch’s Bridgewater West team. Both Lloyd brothers (Rick,Brian) went on to play for Brown and set 3 point records..
