(Rutgers-related question) Is the Duke's Mayo Bowl the first...

I don’t know, maybe. The assembled crowd looks like it. You have to wonder how these mid/lower bowls will survive. Having 15 or 18K in a 70K stadium doesn’t seem to be a promising thing.

Damn. You beat me to it. I was just gonna post about that.
Rutgers may in fact be moving up in the college football world.

This thing used to be during the day and earlier in the week. Not usually that cold for a game. We would have brought a nice crowd to that game. oh well. I get the no rematch thing vs. Va Tech.

Would GS have allowed mayo to be dumped on his head after the win ?

He’d call TO to freeze the dumpers. It also depends on the brand, same as the 1.0 eggs tirade. He’s up tight about the most meaningless things.

31K in house (would've been another 10K with us there instead of Minnesota)...all they need for this game...and TV ratings. If you follow the other thread, in which another poster made claims that "flies" would be drawn to bowls., he gets absolutely destroyed by how well bowls were attended (post-Christmas) this year.

I'm so happy to say that I don't know who this supposed celebrity is...or what makes him a celebrity.

You never heard of Public Enemy? It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back has been regarded by music writers and publications as one of the greatest and most influential albums of all time. Fear of a Black Planet was a huge follow up album. Yeaaah boyyyy is still a major catch phrase.

This song is the first and biggest fusion of rap and heavy metal. This broke new ground and launched careers of many artists and genres of rock and rap.

I have zero interest in that type of music. Hence my lack of knowledge.
I'm strictly a rock and reggae guy...been that way for a long, long time.

Hard to believe the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ turned into a rock juggernaut in the 1970s and 1980s. I never went there (much to my regret). But on wikipedia is a list of acts that appeared there:

We were just talking about the Capitol Theatre on New Year's. My mother dropped me off at some crazy hour in the morning to stand in line for concert tickets when I was about 14-15 years old in the mid 80's. I can't even remember who I was getting tickets for.

The Public Enemy I am familiar with is a movie by that name from the 1930s starring James Cagney.
His character was not a good guy. But it's a classic movie.

Take it for what it is worth, I fed multiple prompts into Chat GPT and it said that it has never happened before.
Chat GPT also says that it probably hasn’t happened too many times at all that two teams RU defeated even played in bowl games. The only one it came up with was 2006 although it estimates it has occurred 5-10 times. @Source - do you know?

This is the only season Rutgers defeated two teams that met in the post season. For all of college football, I do not know.

Generally speaking, it requires your team to beat one of the teams in your conference and then one of the several out-of-connference opponents since traditional Bowls rarely took two teams from the same conference.

So it's going to match up a conference opponent that you beat with one of the four out of conference opponents that wound up with a good season. Many times, Rutgers four out-of-conference games featured "easier" teams that most likely will not be invited to a Bowl And even if they did, to see them matched up in the post season with a higher level team just isn't going to happen very much.

Here's an interesting trivia question. Who is the only college team to be invited AND PLAY in two post season Bowl games at the end of the same season that were not part of a playoff Bowl system?

Navy met Boston College in the 2006 Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, NC. Rutgers beat Navy that season but never played traditional opponent Boston College because the Eagles left for the ACC the year before. Otherwise, there were no other teams that season that would have fit the profile.
