PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 14, 2019) –Rutgers University Director of Athletics Pat Hobbs announced today the retention of Ventura Partners, a leading executive search and talent management agency with a diverse range of consulting and intelligence services.

"We are excited to be working with Ventura Partners,” said Hobbs. “They provide a unique range of services, including talent acquisition and development. We will begin working together immediately to ensure excellent leadership for our football program. They will also be working with us throughout the engagement on strengthening our human resources and providing market data and intelligence.”

Among the services and deliverables to be provided by Ventura Partners are leadership identification, market mapping and intelligence, outreach, internal search assistance, reference review, staff development, and industry consulting.

“Ventura Partners, a national executive search and talent management firm with a specialty practice in intercollegiate athletics, has been retained by Rutgers University to assist in the search,” said Chad Chatlos, Partner, Sports and Entertainment at Ventura. “We will work closely with Pat Hobbs, the Director of Athletics, and his leadership team on the appointment.”

Checking boxes a few weeks after firing? Lol
A few weeks? It's two weeks. It is exactly on the schedule he said he would do it on in his press conference after Ash was fired. Did you really expect him to be negotiating with search firms BEFORE Ash was fired? Think about that.

Hopefully this is for Ventura to find his replacement.

Don't trust him...

So is this a change in direction? Hobbs originally said “no” to executive search firm for a new football coach
Maybe Hobbs' press conference should be pinned to the top of the threads:
Q. The process, it's a two-month process. I assume you're not going to hire anyone before the end of the season?
PAT HOBBS: My intention right now is that we would hopefully be in a position to announce at the end of the season.

You asked about a search committee. Probably will employ a search firm. We'll probably start having some conversations with some of those organizations late this week, next week, before we make a decision. But they can be invaluable in the process. They act as a funnel for information. Obviously if football coaches want to reach out, either themselves or through intermediaries, I would rather not be handling that part of the process, because we want to use all of our efforts and our time to make a considered decision to bring the very best coach here to Rutgers University.

Quick looks seems like they helped in the search for KSU's replacement of Bill Snyder, Utah's AD, WSU's basketball coach, PSU's WBB coach, Ole Miss' basketball coach.

Of course you are wrong again.

The schedule was supposed to be:
Sunday 9/29: Fire Ash
Monday 9/30: Hire Schiano
Saturday 10/5: Begin 56 game winning streak

Duh.......

Too little, too late. Guy should be fired. Hopefully this is for Ventura to find his replacement.

Is the first position they're going to fill, AD?

this can't be bad

even if the hire happens to be one of the top 2-3 guys we talk about all the time Hobbs needs someone to properly vet the person.

Is Hobbs qualified to properly interview a football coach where you need to ask about x's and o's? Does he know which questions to ask that a firm who interviews multiple coaches a year would do?

Hobbs needs someone to do a thorough background check. We know a lot about Greg but need to make sure the financials are in check, the person is not doing illegal things, and that they don't have secret social media accounts with crazy opinions. last thing we need is to hire a coach and then find out he is sleeping with working girls,is a secret conspiracy theory far right or far left political person, has a drug habit, or some other embarrassing thing leading to the coach being out quickly.

and for anyone who does contracts at work with external vendors knows that a 2 week turn around time is quick for legal to approval a contract and for all the parties to sign off on it.

Interesting how the article talked about past scenarios where the process with less than 2 weeks to find a coach.

It may mean that Hobbs has a short list he wants ventura to interview along with 203 candidates they will propose.

Most recently, Ventura Partners worked with Kansas State in December 2018 after longtime coach Bill Snyder retired.

That national search lasted for about a week before the Big 12 school lured Chris Klieman from FCS-power North Dakota State. Other coaches reportedly in the mix for the Kansas State vacancy included North Texas coach Seth Littrell, Memphis coach Mike Norvell, former USF head coach Jim Leavitt and then-Troy coach Neal Brown (who took the West Virginia job).

Takes two weeks to vet a contract with a vendor search firm. Uh no not necessary in this circumstance.

And yes RU Is burning. I would expect that at the very moment that ash is fired that this becomes Hobbs first priority and any vendor needed/that is a bona fide question of whether any is such needed - would be expedited. I understand that many are speculating who have not experienced similar circumstances but don’t expect everyone to concur with the naivete. Repeat and multiple postings don’t change this in any manner.

To get to where we are today with Ventura, i.e. an announcement, requires that they be vetted, negotiated with, hired and contracted.

That you think it takes less than 2 weeks to do those things would suggest that you don't know much about large organization procurement.
