I see a lot of parallels between Rutgers and Colorado. Their coach is in his 4 year with a record @ Colorado of 19-29, listed below. I saw them play USC in 14 and they were the worst D1 team I had ever seen from a talent perspective. They won 2 conference games the first three years. Much like we are now/Shea era. They suffered some horrific losses, just like are. Those on this board would have been saying to fire him after a year, which Colorado was happy not to follow that strategy. He looked like a terrible coach during this time. But he kept recruiting, which is making him look like a great coach now. Their facilities have gotten better as has their support grown with Pac 12 inclusion. Much like we need to do and are doing. It's going to take time, but this is a similar trajectory I see Rutgers taking, provided Ash can continue to recruit.

2013 Colorado 4–8 1–8 6th (South)
2014 Colorado 2–10 0–9 6th (South)
2015 Colorado 4–9 1–8 6th (South)
2016 Colorado 9–2 7–1 (South)
Colorado: 19–29 9–26

Didnt you know? The world is ending and teams never have bad years under a head coach... lol. Were gonna be fine. 17' and 18' classes will bring a bunch of talent into the program. Look out for 2019. I know it pains people but you have to have patience. 2019 we should be able to challenge the likes of ohio state and michigan.

Colorado support at one time was similar. The state politicians didn't care, but the one difference is the support from alums and boosters. Colorado never had a practice facility for basketball/volleyball until a few years ago. Then they built a new indoor facility with a new football locker room, weight room and luxury suite/party lounge on top of the facility overlooking the stadium with the flatirons (mountains) behind the stadium. Plus, they are willing to spend to get quality coaches. At least Rutgers doesn't have to fight another FBS state school (Colorado State) for what funds you do receive.

Btw, my original screen names were ScarletBuffs and CURU.

These things don't work until AFTERWARD. I saw a lot of parallels between Bobby Hauck at UNLV and Schiano. Bad year, bad year, bad year, some sign of life, breakthrough to a bowl and then BAM! 2006. Well, Hauck followed up his breakthrough to a bowl with 2-10 in a conference weaker than the old Big East.

It's nice to look for these things to give us hope, but that's all it is. Hope. It CAN happen. It HAS happened. And I sure hope you're right. But I've become far too jaded to search for parallels. I'll just take the games as they happen.

I agree that you can't just say well it happened elsewhere so......However, its nice to remind some of the people calling for everyone's head that pooping the bed isn't uncommon for new regimes and it's not a guarantee of the future sucking either.

No, If Ash doesn't produce right away and get us into a bowl the first year then he ain't worth shinola! A coach should be able to come in and at least get into a bowl right away. Now, now, now! (sarcasm off)

Colorado's leadership upon inclusion into the PAC 12 stated they wouldn't spend more as a result of higher revenue. Fortunately they saw the light.

As to us, much like Colorado, I expect next year to be much like this. Maybe worse if that's possible. Year 3 won't be a ton better in the result column, but the scores will be more interesting. Year 4 is when it will get better.

I always said year 3 is when you will start to see the difference. With JUCO transfers next year, we could be better than I expect. Without them, I would expect a similar year to this one. The key year is still #3. You will then see if what Ash has recruited after 2 years and the theories he has implemented into this program have been the right scheme or not. So hold off to judge him until then. I'm still feeling pretty good about the future.

Noty true at all, that stuff only happens at Rutgers. Clearly you got the 1st three year's records from one of those fake news sites from facebook.

Trumps in.-Radical republicans are gonna run the country.. Liberals- look like you (pick 'em)Rutgers vs Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State. We're f*cked. In 4 years when were ready to make that big Trump the new war mongers in Washington will have us in WWIII and the worlds gonna end.

Just a little CaliKnight political board like humor...

Was just talking about this with a USC fan at lunch. He could not believe that it is between them and USC for the right to go to the PAC-12 Championship. Things sure can change.

I didn't major in English, but I read this 3 times and still have no idea what it means.

Meh. Just move it to the Politics board. We're f'd up as a country by pandering to the extreme left and extreme right. When someone actually wants to engage those of us in the middle then wake me up. - Damn -- need to move this too to Politics board :chairshot::flush:
