After a sluggish road trip ending with a loss to a winnable Michigan team and a lackluster win vs Sparty, we are home sweet home for a nice SB Sunday matinee vs Indiana. I think coming back to the RAC will be just what the doctor ordered, and we get back to business. Here's my predictions:

125 Paetzall vs Oliver. No one might be happier to be home than Paetzall. RU up 3-0
133 Delvecchio Win RU 6-0
141 Ash MD RU 10-0
149 Theo Win RU 13-0
157 JVB Win RU 16-0
165 Loss RU 16-3
174 Pagano Loss RU 16-6
184 Gravina vs Nate Jackson. Gonna be a good one...I think at home Gravina gets it done. RU 19-6
197 Correnti Win RU 22-6
HVY Gross Win 25-6

I think we win this one going away and put RU Wrestling fans in a good mood for an opening act to the Super Bowl. I could easily see Oliver winning at 125 and Jackson winning at 184, at home I think we win the toss up matches unlike last weekend...both Paetzall and Gravina can help their B1G tourney seedings with a W here.

Here is how I have it broken down and I think I usually error on the side of being conservative.

RU wins 133, 141 and 157
IN wins 174 and 184
Toss ups that I favor us 149, 165 and 197
Toss ups that I favor them 125 and 285

So I have it 20-12, that being said I can see a scenario where we can run away with this match if things go right. And I don't see any scenario where they run away with the match.

We are off until this match where IU has to travel to Maryland and wrestle on Friday night. So making weight on the road twice in 3 days is not always a fun thing.

We definitely will have the upper hand if Indy is wrestling Friday night at Maryland. You saw how that affected us early vs MSU.

RU by 22-10

125 0-3
133 3-3
141 7-3
149 10-3
157 13 -3
165 16-3
174 16-7
184 16-10
197 19-10
HVY 22-10

Giving Rutgers the edge in all toss ups for home mat advantage:

125: IND 0-3
133: RUT 3-3
141: RUT 6-3
149: RUT 9-3
157: RUT 12-3
165: RUT 15-3
174: IND 15-6
184: IND 15-9
197: RUT 18-9
285: RUT 21-9

But I don't think RU will win all thee toss ups at 165, 197 and 285. Also 149 and 157 are fairly close. Theobold and Perez split matches 2 years ago, and I JVB is no lock, so it should be closer than 21-9.

It's also possible Paetzell, Pagano and Gravina could all pull off upsets. But I think it's better to go into matches with tempered expectations and be pleasantly surprised, so I'd say an 18-12 or a 5-5 split with bonus points deciding the match is what people should expect.

Is Gravina okay? The last few matches, I thought he looked little sluggish and not as aggressive as I saw him in the past...

Any chance Goodale may tweak the lineup considering that TOSU match is the next day?

I think too much aggressiveness led to some sloppy technique and a loss to Parker, so Gravina toning it down a bit is probably a good thing. I don't see him ever losing his edge in pace and pressure. just needed to get it under control a little more.
