Rutgers vs Minnesota / Game Thread

Please stop, you don't get better at FTs especially during a game when being booed by your OWN fans
The fans are just "keeping it real".

Hit some damn free throws!

BTW.. a lot of the same fans that boo way too many missed free throws also cheer great effort and hustle and big plays.

We lost tbe game because Minnesota is better period
Agreed.. they knew we were good rebounding inside and they challenged us inside and won. They earned it.. AND we gave it away.. AND the refs missed some calls favoring the better team.. as usual.

Any fan booing their own team at a home game is a joke of a fan. Had season tickets for 30 years and feel like you have the right to boo? Good..Sell your seats, we don't need you because you're dead weight.
Don't have to sell what I don't have....and as an FYI the energy in that arena would be a 1000x better than it is now if they could shoot a foul shot. But instead rvryone in the arena knows thay they are going to shoot brick after brick after brick at the foul lone and that alone sucks all the energy out of the crowd. My daughters 5th grade travel team shoots FT's better than a Division 1 College basketball team that is pathetic. Hell Corey almost threw up an air ball at the line. If he cannot get to 80% from the line he has ZERO chance of making NBA. It's also sad that the best foul shooting stroke in the team is your 7ft center.

We lost the game because
Lost the game because every time Rutgers lowered the margin to 6 or less Minnesota would make a dunk or a layup and too often also a foul shot for a 3 point play.Rutgers abysmal foul shooting clearly didn't help along with the fact that they didn't have a consistent shooter on the court for the entire game. Its simple math where Minnesota averages over 70 points per game and Rutgers struggles to score 60 points.

Guess I am old school. Jeer the opposing team, cheer RU

Alsonote that most of the 2nd half we didn't go to the basket. The times we did get close we passed it out. Gophers lengthened their lead most then. When we started shooting in close again we we started closing the gap, they piled on the fouls (one fouled out). Don't know why they stopped, but when you're inside PUT THE BALL UP. Sure they block some, as they did in the first half, but eventually they foul.

#2: Does anybody have the stats that my gut tells me we've gotten WORSE foul shooting?

yes blame the refs...good thing I wasnt in on this thread...more ref bashing again..so silly, everything is bumps and hacks, you guys have jumped the shark

Not what I meant.

Nothing to do with the refs

FT shooting, and we allowed too many easy baskets.

IMO, that is what killed us and kept us from winning.
We didn't lose just because MN had better players.

Every team we play has better players.
That fact alone is not why we lose any 1 particular game.

Rutgers has no margin for error in any league game.
The strange thing is, we actually have some margin of error due to our defense. Defense is one of those things that doesn't get noticed the way a team who passes and shoots well does, but we have been in many games despite turning the ball over, terrible 3-pt. FG %, and sucking balls at the line. We don't score points in a pretty way, but our defense kicks ass. We took the #7 team in the country to OT (actually they took us, since we were up by 9 with 3 minutes left), and we missed shots and FTs in that game. We can miss and still win, we just don't have guys who want to pull the trigger down the line other than Mike and Corey and occasionally Gettys.

Disagree while MN may be better our own destruction lost the game. Personally think they should work more of the offense around Gettys while not perfect he's the only one that can finish near the hoop. He's not going to throw it down but he will give you an opportunity to put it in the hoop w/o being out if control

At times he can be a liability on defense as he is very slow on athletic big men but he does play hard
