Without our frontcourt, we will be lucky to upset someone at home this season in conference.
We might be favored against Nebby next week

And that may be it. Maybe against Penn State. Northwestern actually looks pretty good this year especially with their guard play.We might be favored against Nebby next week
Wisconsin goes over 5 minutes without a basket at the beginning of the second half and still wins by more than 20 points. This game was downhill from the beginning with Sanders not starting which is a ominous sign for a team lacking talent.I'm afraid there will be more games this season with a 20 point plus loss .Its so sad to watch this team compete because for the most part the players are trying hard but just are over matched .First it was the Big East and now the B1G and there really is not much difference because of the talent disparity between Rutgers and the opposing teams.
Why are you yelling at him? You don't find it sad?If it's so sad to watch then don't!
There are very few left who care.
Not yelling. It is frustration. Why are you yelling at him? You don't find it sad?
no wayWe might be favored against Nebby next week
Being a willing defender isn't coaching, it is a mindset. But that "willingness" you talk about IS coaching. A good coach will get his players motivated to play tough hardnosed defense. It's something that we have lacked under EJ since he got here.
He's sick - sick of losing. He isn't used to getting blown out on a regular basis. Kid is probably pi$$ed off. Hope he gets well soon.Wonder if the benching had anything to do with Sanders no show...maybe he was sick...

As a coach I can teach you proper footwork, I can teach you to go over screens, I can teach you the proper rotation in help defense; but if you don't have the desire to be a good on defense and stop your man no amount of coaching is going to change that.
That player either needs to transfer to a school that plays on defense so he doesn't have to defend a specific player or he needs to have a seat next to me and watch the game it his warm up suit. That's how you motivate a kid to play good defense.
Face it, some kids are flat out lazy on defense.
Actually you are agreeing with me.Russ,
I respectfully disagree slightly.
A lot has to do with a programs culture. Some places you know you don't play if you don't bring it defensively.
So I agree you can't coach a kid to play good defense, but you can set expectations that forces a kid to emphasize defense.
Actually you are agreeing with me.
I said that a kid that doesn't play defense either needs to transfer to a school that plays zone defense so he doesn't have to defend a specific player or he needs to have a seat next to me and watch the game it his warm up suit. That's how you motivate a kid to play good defense.
I believe that's the program culture you are referring to.
