Rutgers Women's Basketball vs. Vanderbilt

Why does he keep yanking Liz after a minute or two and keeps Jailyn in all the time?

Nice to see one of our young bigs in the game(chyna). What's up with Sakima?

Losing 21-7
4:31 to go in the 2nd
And we have *15* turnovers already - yikes
5 players are scoreless but have registered 1, 2, or 3 turnovers each.
Only 1 player currently has more points than turnovers (and that is 4 to 3).

We are losing 26-8 at the half.
5 points in 1Q, 3 in 2Q

We are shooting 3-17
0-10 from 3
2-6 FT’s

18 turnovers in THE FIRST HALF
8 different players have at least 1 TO.

This is soooo bad. Will we ever see good basketball on the banks again?? Before the tongue-lashing starts, I know I'm being overly dramatic, but both programs look so inept right now. It's unacceptable.

RU down 26-8... AT HALFTIME!!

They look like they hung out on the beach all night and came straight to the game. We can't endure a season of this.

Damm 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I don't know if it's the players or Tim and the staff isn't up to the challenge of molding the team into a winning one.
Le's see if the second half is different, but team won't win many this year with this type of first half play.

Again, .....the lineups that Tim goes with are highly questionable IMO. And the players are not being put in position to be successful.

None of them can buy a three. Maybe Tim should tell them to step in and shoot it from where they can make it. That is the only way to loosen up the defense when they pack it in like Vandy is doing.

Also, my coach always said move the ball side-to-side quickly around the perimeter to make the defense keep moving. Learned that in middle school Bball. Our ladies are holding it looking around, then passing it. No driving lanes being created.

I'm all in for new leadership if this continues through the second half. Turn it over to Nadine Domond at this point. See what she can do.

Right now it looks like we are playing to try to make the NIT Tourney.

Feel bad for the RU supporters who made this expensive trip to watch them score 8 points in 1 half. Third game in a row down at least 18+ points at some point. Pathetic

This is beyond pathetic we are lucky we just scored 4 straight to give us a whopping 15 points midway through the third quarter we may not win another game this year

Checked in to see the score. My mind is blown. Did they all get food poisoning or something? Maybe they like coming back from large deficits. I hope they can do it again.

Down 42-22 after 3Q

At least we only lost the 3rd 16-14, so that is improvement

25 turnovers thus far
Only 5 players have more points than turnovers. And 15 players have played.

Shooting 8-32
1-19 from 3

With today's FG and 3 shooting, it's the gang that can't shoot straight play that's a killer.
Along with being turnover prone..
Too early in season to panic, but time to be really worried if this team will even compete with the middle pack of the B1G and be a bottom tier program this year.

I'm usually one of the most optimistic posting on this board, but having a hard time doing that with the way RU is playing.

edit: RU's playing great in the 4th, but too little and far to late to win this game or give me hope that the team l will listen to the beatles

How’s it not to early to panic we are downright terrible I think we go to 0-3 in the Paradise Jam and I don’t think we win more than 2-3 games in the Big

Trying not to sound overly optimistic, so will say turnaround in play can happen, but the way the team looks, right now, should have us really worried about this team being competitive in conference play.

It may be early to tell whether this is just early season growing pains or if this is just a poor job of preparing the team. Shay Ralph is in her first year isn't she? Just got there this summer.

I just look at the difference between sharpness and execution between the two teams and it tells me that our disturbing play points to coaching and not talent.

I'll tell you this.......Chyna Cornwell should have gotten time last year as Sakima did so that she could get real game-time acclimation and go through her growing pains. By now, she would be more polished and a real weapon on offense to go along with Osh.

She has size and strength that coaches would love to be able to work with. Every time she has gotten on the court she shows so much potential. She needs to get time like she did today in games going forward, unless matchups prevent it.

Didn't see much of Sakima and I don't remember seeing Sidibe at all today.

Sidibe played 3 minutes today.
The playing time each game Tim hands out seems to have no rhythm or reason to it, just looks he's going by hunches .
Every game the playing time is different , like he's still trying to figure out the best rotation

Appears to be grasping at straws. It hurts to say it, hurts even more to see how this program has fallen.

This is beyond comprehension for me.. 15 for 70 from 3 in last 4 games, but even worse, 6 for 41 from 3 in last 2 losses... Yikes... How in the world can any major division 1 program shoot so poorly from outside? I thought that the RU men were bad from outside, but the women have now raised the bar... What do they do in practice?

Teams are going to continue to dare us to shoot from the perimeter as they have historically done to us because we haven't consistently shot well from there.

It is evident that we don't prioritize three point shooting in practice. They have got to get the ladies the necessary reps to build that muscle memory the way all good shooting teams do.

We have at least a handful of players who can shoot it well if they get the reps in either before, during, or after practice. Shorten practice if you have to do so to keep fresh legs for the games. Make sure they stretch well before games (especially the arms, neck, shoulders, and back). Makes a huge difference in the fluidity of the shot.

Coaches must make the necessary and obvious adjustments for the sanity of the players and fans, as well as, for themselves. How long will they allow players to steamroll all the way to the basket, committing offensive foul after foul. I hope he told them at some point to pull up for a mid-range jumper. That needs to be an emphasis in practice also. That adjustment should have happened after the first 2-3 offensive fouls. "Details" that need to take place on the coaches part.

Sakima is barely seeing the court and as I have stated this is not a good sign for the future and even Chyna has also barely seen the court don’t understand it as they are our 2 biggest girls

Why we play with no center I don’t get it. Chyna North Carolina player of the year a dominating force inside and rides the bench for us to shoot 1-19 from 3. COME ON COACHES

I am one of them. Tim does not know how to put a line up on the court. Ball goes into Mason’s hand and everything stops and why does she play the whole game? Play Shug. No life on the court until 4th QTR which was way too late. The game was an embarrassment compounded by Tim fouling with maybe 2 minutes at the end of the game. Bush league. Players don’t know where to be on the court or put in the wrong role like bigs trapped on the sidelines bringing the ball up with no help. Tim is in over his head.

Program has been run into the ground and its going to get worse
Not yet but on its way…
I wouldn't worry too much about the program being run into the ground. It's in the midst of a major hiccup right now but beyond this year, coaching adjustments can be made for the program to take flight again in no time.

The foundation is there for any good coach to do well right out of the gate. The new facilities and Big Ten status, fertile recruiting region, along with the respected history of the program make this an attractive spot for any up and coming, quality coaching candidate.

Things won’t change until the administration makes a complete overhaul of the coaching staff including retiring CVS to an administrative role and bringing in a whole new gang to rebuild the team to what it w once was in CVS’ heyday. Sad to say but has to be.

I like that Tim sounds a little different this time around. Less throwing the players under the bus. He's now taking full responsibility for the poor play, as well he should. That is a positive step for him to take at this crucial time. Shows growth on his part as a leader.

Now let's just hope he and his staff can come up with the answers.

With what we've seen so far, I agree that this would justify bringing an end to the CVS coached era (unless Tim can pull a 180 going forward.......or CVS returns and turns the team around, we make the NCAA tourney and do well there).

Time will give us our answer. It's playing out in front of our eyes.

Ralph will be limited by the talent she has. But she is actually off to a good start, they gave Arizona fits yesterday. We won on a last second wild shot. She is a heck of a coach, apparently, and her husband is on staff and he has 3 years experience as a head coach, as well. Shock that she took the Vandy job, but, unlike many other folks in Geno's coaching tree, I thought she would do well.

Please put "hopefully" before rebuild. For better or worse, it is almost always a crapshoot when you change coaches. It takes a certain amount of luck to pick the right candidate. A team in Rutgers position would be well served to get someone with head coaching experience (level is not important) who has spent time in the coaching ranks (could have been an assistant) in a proven Power 5 type program.
