I’m as disappointed as anyone with the results this season, and sure as hell not an apologist. Trying to take an objective outlook on our disgraceful offensive output this season, and reason for any optimism going forward. There’s no question we have plenty of deficiencies with offensive personnel and can use upgrades in just about every area possible. That being said, I feel our ineptitude was due in larger part to a playbook that had zero creativity or ability to put our players in positions to succeed, and the results were MUCH worse than our personnel warranted.
One could make the argument that our defensive personnel in 21 was better than it was this year, but we all saw what a difference can be made by having a more competent scheme and competent individual implementing it. While we’d all love to believe we can add a bunch of shiny new toys to the offense for next season through the portal, it‘s probably unrealistic to expect adding any major impact players. However, I honestly do believe that a major leap can be made next season simply just by getting this hire right.
