I'm not ashamed to admit that I want Schiano back. Say what you want about him, but he is a good disciplinarian and a strong recruiter. If he could somehow bring Robb Smith and Hafley with him, our coaching staff would be plus. The problem is, according to rumor, Schiano would not be willing to working under Julie Hermann. So here is a thought: why not let Schiano be HC and AD? Doing so would not be unprecedented, and Schiano could help clean up the mess. Moreover, with the lofty salary that Schiano would command, having him replace Flood and Hermann would help defray the costs. If Schiano balks, then let him pick an AD. I trust his choice over Sweeney's.

Now, more than ever, Rutgers Athletics needs a competent CEO at the helm. Hand him the keys, and beg him to come back.

- AD's don't have enough time to be AD's

- HC's don't have enough time to be HC's

- both BARELY have enough time, for their families, as it is

- Greg, as an AD, maybe - MAYBE - in another 10-15 years. Unfortunately teams not named "football" would become, maybe from top-to-bottom, the nation's worst. Maybe once shows, as a HC, that he can be a tad less of a "control freak," and let those beneath him due what they're hired to do, he could become a very good AD if - and ONLY if - he studies the ways of the best athletic programs in America for a few years.

- Greg, as HC, man IF he can let his OC actually run the offense, the way he/they want to run it, I don't think I'd mind at this point.

Has there ever been an AD and Football coach in the Big at the same time? Barry Alvarez does not count since he only coached in a bowl game(twice) as the AD. No way one person could do both jobs

I agree...this can't be a serious conversation

And outside of being a football coach (a lousy one at that) exactly what experience does he have for the other sports that Rutgers fields?

Where are you guys going to build him a million+ home this time? I guess you could always divert the $ for the baseball facility, make one of the golf course's Par 5s a Par 3, and put his estate there. Jk.

He's being paid something in the neighborhood of $3 million a year not to coach. He's got a gig at ESPN. Unless you know his contract allows him to coach in the NCAA without losing whatever Tampa still owes him, he's too pricy for RU or most schools.

George O'Leary?
George O'Leary is an interim AD...and for the record, from USA Today:
"Central Florida coach George O’Leary, who was named the school’s interim athletics director in June, has expressed a strong desire to assume the position full time and step down as football coach at the end of this season, according to two people who have communicated directly with school officials about the situation"

So it can be done!

Barry Alvarez is laughing...

You should be ashamed ...Greg Schiano isn't coming back to Rutgers...if and when Flood is fired or resigns we need to go in a totally different direction...not sure who but it must be a significant upgrade in coach and staff...if your not going to then you bite the bullet for one last year...sorry but we don't have the 3-5 mil we would need for head honcho and staff.

Big problem along with the fact that, well, he apparently couldn't care less about other sports.

You lost with that little snippet. He was a very successful head football coach and rebuilt RU football. We owe him a lot. At the same time, he would be crazy to step back into this organization unless he had no other options. His time at RU has run its course.

GS as AD would have 97% of funds going to football. You can forget about Olympic sport success in that scenario.

The person would need it be basically a figurehead at one of the spots, most likely AD,

well he attended many ,many bball games--I really don't think he'd ignore it

In the words of the great philosopher, Jon Bon Jovi, "Who says you can't go home!" As others have noted, Bill Snyder comes to mind.

There is no back story...its just people repeating stuff with no truth

Anyhow lmfao at GS for AD...do u people realize how much work and time it requires. .plus he isnt qualified

Bac,
After initially being on the fence about Julie, I began thinking she could do the job here. That being said, she REALLY needs to get things going in the right direction. She has been here two and a half years and there still is no shovel in the ground for the new basketball practice facility. It took WAYYYYY too long to raise just $3 million for the baseball facility. Every other Power 5 school spends that much each year on new carpet for the coaches offices. And we still are not getting any money for RAC naming rights. I don't know if she is holding out for GM,Exxon, or Apple or what is going on. Just sign a 5 year deal with somebody and get some money into the coffers--I don't care if it ends up being the Stuff Yer Face Athletic Center for a few years.

2.5 years? LOL, com'on Heaven, did either of our previous 2 AD's put a shovel in the ground for a basketball practice facility? For the baseball/softball indoor facility? Nope (and I was a big fan of both...), not even close, and they both had longer tenures than 2.5 years. Not fair my friend.
