I didn't get upset when Schiano left days before signing day for the NFL and gutted our staff. That's business . I didn't get upset when Schiano didn't want to come back when Flood was let go, hey it's hard to go back to where you started. But now, I think Schiano really disrespected Rutgers by taking this job w OSU. F HIM. I hope Meyers fires his *** before the season ends. Luke Fickel must be thrilled. Hope his career ends miserably.

the guy is looking at his future. An this is a great place to get back to what he really wants to do. Be a Head football coach in the PROS oh well we need to move on because the university did in a HUGE WAY

Wrong abro. He spit in ru s face when he left just before signing day and doubled down by taking our staff. That wasn't business that was Disrespect.
Taking the OSU job after failing to get 1 of around 8 openings is business. After Tampa bay he's trying to stay relrvant

please stop, you were on your hands and knees begging for him to come back. He isn't some God. He owes us nothing. We didn't want to hire him..thats fact..we needed to move on. You need to move on. Others here need to move on with the obsession that he is the one person that can effect Rutgers football whether he is the coach or coaching as a DC at OSU. There is nothing wrong with him taking the job at OSU.

Schiano has not been able to get a head coaching gig back in college. Each year away from coaching, the interest in him would wane more. A chance arrives to coach the defending national champions and perennial contender. He is expected to walk away from this opportunity? Because he is loyal to Rutgers? The football program he built from ashes into a relevant national program to be rewarded by getting chased out of town on a rail? Ungrateful? look at this board and some of the fans in the stands the last couple years of his tenure.

If he wants to revive his career, he needs to be on the sidelines someplace. tOSU is a great place to do it.

He can take whatever job he damn pleases...without one nanosecond of thought as to how some fans in NJ or anywhere else might feel...similar to recruits committing and de-committing...again, THEIR BUSINESS, and not ours...

If it upset you that he took the job with one of the top programs in the country, slap some Vagisil on it...

We blame the NJ/NY media for hating on RU a lot...but sometimes some of the posts on here make me think that we are just as bad as them...making statements without facts and frankly being selfish...let GS do what he wants...after all it's his life

I would have been happy if he came back. I think I am happier with Ash, because he's young, energetic and hungry with something to prove. Time will tell. I have nothing against Schiano coaching for OSU. (Now if it were PSU... that's a different story!)

I'm happy for GS and wish him well.

Mrs Schiano: Greg honey I think taking a job with one of the top programs in the country would be a great opportunity to get back into coaching. Not to mention all the money you will get paid to do what you love. Why the hesitation?
Greg: I know its an amazing opportunity but I need to consider how this will affect Abro1975.

OP drama alert.

Greg Schiano owes Rutgers nothing. He did the best job he could and moved on. It's life.

He is a football coach who took the best job he could find. Nothing more, nothing less.

He left when he found out he was promoted to the NFL . Did you want him to trick everyone or something? Gutted the staff??? Haha that was his team and most sports or executives take the team with them . And why would he come back? Did you notIce the venom from so many including YOU? So now he takes a job at another school and this too is disrespect ? You get the loser of the year award dude . Move on!

This is really really dumb. Schiano resurrected Rutgers Football taking a job every tool him was a coaching grave yard. He left RU on good terms and is doing right by his career. He took a good job under a good coach. A few years from now he'll be a much better head coach candidate. I wish him all the success in the world, except when playing Rutgers.

The guy needs/wants a job. He applied for EVERY head coaching gig in the country and the only one he got(UCF) he thought he was to good for. As a result, he's a DC. Can't blame a guy for working. End of the day who cares, if it wasn't him they would have hired some other big name guy. You guys are way overhyping the recruiting stuff.

You mean like this?

He turned down Michigan...i think he blew it when he left for Tampa and think he could have been the Joe Paterno of RU (minus the overlooking harboring and enabling a child rapist for well over a decade).

My question is how great a job do you honestly think RU is? and how great a Coach do you honestly think Schiano is? We've never won anything, The top 2 revenue sports are national jokes. And for all he's done for us Schiano never won a championship. Again I still love him but let's maybe think we can do better, by thinking 1 degree outside of tunnel vision.

I'm happy we moved forward and look forward to going undefeated (not 1-0) against Greg. Go RU!!! Fight or flight!

Where is the UNlike button?

The guy has every right to do whatever the hell he wants to.

He gave more to this school and this program than all of us collected

So he decided to get back into the game. Good for him. He literally could not have stepped into a better career reclamation spot

And let's be straight. We all know his coaching there is barely going to move the needle amongst prospective NJ recruits. If Urban f'ing Meyer isn't selling a high school kid on coming to his school, I highly doubt Greg Schiano is gonna make a damn of difference

You do not know what you're talking about. Schiano wanted to come back but Rutgers didn't want him back.

What part of that do people not understand.

He didn't disrespect Rutgers. Rutgers disrespected him.

This is one reason Rutgers can not be great because their fans are too hateful. No one at Ohio State or even the other Big Ten teams that lost DC or OC hate as much as Rutgers fans. Their fans understand it's business. You don't think recruits see it. Look at the thread Is Flood a bad coach? No he got fired for being a good coach. Rehash Stupidity.

This was an incredibly smart move by OSU and Schiano.

Part of the appeal of Ash was that he worked under Meyer at OSU. Schiano just increased his value as a future head coach tremendously. He should be a brilliant DC for them and pick up some knowledge. Fantastic move for him and how it affects Rutgers is irrelevant.

My hope would be that there are enough players out there for both OSU and RU. If OSU gets more of "ours" because Schiano is there then we have to get someone else's because of what Ash and staff do.

Yes Greg...at least someone hired you after you thought you were still in demand at a place better than us....we realize were beneath you finishing the job....no pride..no need GS....

Business....thought GS liked being in control.....now he's 1 of a dozen small potates....maybe he'll implement the 'Wild Knight'' there...

This was kind of backwards. Him leaving days before signing day could've been crippled Rutgers, and in a way it has because of Flood's mismanagement. That's disrespected. Him taking the OSU DC job was business. He probably did wanted the Miami job and didn't get it. Who knows.

Just move on from the stranglehold this man has had on this program for years like he's some religious messiah or something.
