Schiano to OSU replacing Ash

Damn good hire, and likely good for Schiano to rehab his reputation and pick up some more pointers.
Looks like he finally realized his attractiveness, or non attractiveness as HC, and found a great landing spot. This is a great place to rehab his image and learn from a superstar HC. From OSU DC he definitely can get another HC job in college.

I cant imagine a guy with an ego the size of Greg's going to work with Urban. Very interesting hire.
Meh, OSU is picking a couple of top kids from NJ and with or without Greg they have a good shot at picking them up.
As for being a good DC, well it is OSU, they were likely to get a pretty good hire.
This, we may not beat OSU on the field but for a couple recruits this may keep jersey closed

He's not going to make any more of a difference recruiting NJ than going up against Urban Meyer would. It's a negligible difference. Urban alone vs Urban/Schiano isn't much difference to me.

Bad news b/c Schiano is a decent recruiter and his recruiting base is the "State of Rutgers" (and Florida). Basically, our base. Its not about beating OSU. Its about losing recruits from our home turf to OSU, who's recruitment of NJ just got easier by hiring Schiano. I mean, come on, if Meyer and Schiano knock on your front door together, are you not going to open it?
Look if he's going to go anywhere in our territory, probably best he goes to OSU.
OSU can recruit for itself. I am a GS fan but I don't see how he would make their recruiting "better" than it is.

For those saying it's bad news because of recruiting think about how stupid that sounds. OSU with Meyer can pretty much already get any recruit it wants. Stop being afraid of your own shadows.
Meyer does not need Schiano to recruiting NJ, he does it already..good lord they recruit nationally and are not taking every single NJ recruit because they have Schiano...please the guy is not some freaking god
At most how many kids can he poach from NJ. Two? Three? Happens every year. OSU has always been Ohio heavy
Schiano always had trouble defending against spread offenses. WVU owned us.

Schiano to me is a negligible difference. You're going to open the door anyway because it's Urban Meyer, not because Schiano is there. His name alone is tough to beat, anything after him is a diminishing return and marginal at best.
Schiano will not negatively recruit against RU. Hes going to be recruting nationally. He won't bash Rutgers when recruting NJ kids.
Schiano's been out of the loop for awhile. I dont see it as a game changer for Urban in NJ. The same thing was said when LJ was hired a few years ago. PSU has done pretty well head to head on DL recruits.
This. MUCH better to go to a place that is basically running itself than places like UVA, CUSE, MD, etc. that are our local recruiting competition at the moment and rehabbing them.
Hope Ash does his job cuz then the OSU games will have even more juice!
Ohio State could have a Capuchin monkey as their DC and still pull four-star recruits from wherever they want. I wouldn't freak out about this hire.
