Sean Miller just turned down Pitt

Bit of a slam against Pitt for driving Jamie Dixon out of town. They did the same against Wanny and still have not recovered completely.

lol if they thought a successful coach like Miller would leave a program like Arizona for Pitt. Apparently it looks like the Pitt fans are following the same line of thinking that they had in football back with a few coaching searches. Their place in the hierarchy is not among the top programs. Yes its a solid program in the ACC but their glory days from the BE a decade ago are over

Watching the Pitt writer double down on his story that Miller was in town about to accept the job, minutes before Miller's official declining on Twitter and other writers posting pictures of Miller currently in Arizona...has been amazing.

He toured the facilities, and backed out. Knew could not win there.

told you no shot was never happening. Maybe Archie but I doubt it. Pitt is about to learn their place in the basketball world and spoiler alert, it is not that high on the totem pole.

I don't think that's surprising. I said the other day I doubt he'd leave Arizona for his alma mater but I could see his brother Archie do it. I still kinda wonder if they'd be interested in Howland coming back and vice versa if Howland would be interested after just one 1 year at Miss. St. Ben Jacobson could be a good name for them too.

Pitt will get a good mid-major coach and be fine in the long run.....they aren't getting an established coach to Pittsburgh...

I always thought Pitt had Big Ten potential and they jumped too soon to the ACC. In football, it might work out for them, but in basketball, it's a very tall order.

Yeah, that was a really bad look for the reporter, the university and the city.

Brandin Knight will interview. I don't know how legit of a shot he has though.

Never in a million years. State Penn would never allow it and frankly they don't bring any additional media markets, which as know firsthand is a pretty big deal.

unfortunately they are red headed step childs in the ACC along with Cuse and BC. They certainly are better positioned for success than those two schools but you get the feeling that all of these schools fanbases might be longing for the days of the Big East. The support that Pitt gave to basketball was incredible to move it from doormat in the mid to late 90s to a top 20 program but they are at a crossroads now if they want to maintain it. The fact that Narduzzi flirted with bolting from the Pitt job to RU has to be concerning as well. Any real success there and he is out of there

Archie just got a salary increase and signed a contract extension at Dayton. It was announced this week. He is not going to Pitt.

If you know the situation, you would would know they weren't waiting. They were very unhappy with the upper brass at the Big East and spent alot of energy looking to get out of town.

Oh well, he would have been a good candidate. Well then I still think another good mid major coach like Jacobson is a possibility or maybe another internal promotion like Dixon was, in Brandin Knight. I still wonder about Howland too. Is he too old for Pitt? Does Howland want to leave after only 1 year also?

Former Dunk City HC now at USC Andy Einfeld and UAB HC Jarrod Haase are supposedly on their radar.

why would Enfield leave a cushy USC gig he just got started for Pitt.

Haase is more in line with what they could get but I bet their fans arent happy

they should make a run after Jacobsen..they can always go after Hurley

This doesn't surprise me at all. 'Zona is a premium job and has been since Lute Olson turned it into a top notch perennial winner and a national champ. For Sean Miller to be swayed to leave a top program, Pitt would have had to throw boatloads of money at Sean Miller.

Who knows, maybe the Pitt reporter mistakenly thought Sean Miller when they told him Archie Miller. LOL!

Enfield to Pitt is laughable.

That list is hillarious. It was clearly written by a Pitt fan. Two coaches on that list would be a realistic option. Herb Sendeck and the Oakland coach. Danny Hurley is a maybe for them but they will have to over pay him for what he is worth. All the others would never leave for Pitt.

Let's see------I think Pitt is an excellent job-----nice city----easy access to NY , NJ , Pa and Ohio which are all good hoop areas and nice facilities------and there is a track record of good teams.

A D1 coach text me today that he thinks Kevin Willard will take the Pitt job if it is offered to him.

I'm sure he would but would they offer just off 1 season? I think that would be short sighted of the Pitt AD. I'd want to see some consistent results before offering.

I would think thats a very questionable hire by Pitt....not sure why they would take Willard a guy who took 6 years to get SHU to the NCAA and that mainly because of shady hirings. I just do not see Willard as the typical hot coaching prospect and I cannot imagine the Pitt fanbase liking it all that much. Yes he played their I think and his father was a disaster as coach but it makes me scratch my head

I hope they don't. Willard is really bad and I'll be a lot more scared of them with Hurley.
