SEC Mississippi State game at Prudential

It does also fit this criteria, which would designate it as a Rutgers home game:

*Is in the same city or a reasonable distance within the metropolitan area of Team A, and its opponent, Team B, is from outside the metro area.

But i think the fact it's being run by a third party is the difference.

This really just comes down to the definition of "third party". The Big Ten is a de facto third party to RU and MSU. Neither school included the game in their season ticket package, controlled ticket sales, or took home the concession revenue. It's a stretch to say the Big Ten conference isn't a third party just because it is in a separate contractual relationship with both parties.

The only difference I see is that the third party in that game just happened to be the conference both playing teams were affiliated with.... but that holds true for the Big Ten Tournament, too, which are neutral site games for all parties.

It would not surprise me at all if the NCAA up and decided to call this a home game by the end of the year.

So yes, I wouldn't be surprised either. But i think its CLEAR a 3rd party is running this. We shall see. Just win!

Is anyone truly concerned that Pike forgot all about the MSU game at MSG and didn’t clarify with the NCAA that the Miss State game will be a neutral site?

Much as I would like it to be, they really can't call this a neutral game with a straight face. There will be a sea of red there
Alabama-Gonzaga in Birmingham was neutral
Wisconsin-Stanford in Milwaukee was neutral

I'm sure I could find tons of others like those.

Think the keys are (1) a third party is running everything and (2) it's non-conference

And (3) it's a conference tournament.

Until the NCAA wants to change the rules randomly.

It's a neutral site game but the crowd will be decidedly one-sided.

I will be very surprised if there are more than 100 MSU fans there.

I’m guessing they will travel better than that. The chance to come to NY near Christmas is a big draw for a lot of folks

RU does have enough national swagger to lobby the NCAA for this to be a neutral game. They will laugh in our face and make it a home game, per usual.

Okay, I will be very surprised if there are more than 150 MSU fans. Mostly wives of coaches & some boosters if the game doesn't conflict with a bowl game.

NY probably looks like a scary crime ridden cesspool to most people from Starkville, MS.

I doubt Pike cares that much. Yes, it matters for the NET calculation, but the objective here was to add a local game against a major conference team to fill out the schedule. He didn’t want another true road game (understandably) and he also probably didn’t want to commit to going on the road to a place like Wake, Clemson, Miss State in a future year. Those aren’t the types of games he wants with the recruits we have coming in. Realistically, this was what we were going to get with our schedule being so boxed in. A blue chip like Duke wasn’t magically going to have availability to pencil in a home and home starting this season at the RAC. And those likely were the only types of future true road games Pike would have agreed to.

I’ll add - if ever pike deserves a break from the crap we give him on scheduling, this is the year. With the true road games we already had penciled in, a 3 game neutral tourney would’ve been too many games away from home in a year with so many new faces. Our choices in general were limited.

I’m assuming tickets have been sent out.

Can anyone tell me the sender? Can’t find them.
