Getting their a$$es handed to them by THE Nova.

6 weeks ago they were an absolute NCAA shoe-in. They peaked early and are not playing well at all. Their OOC wins are a huge plus but if they continue to lose they ain't makin it. Now 3-5 in the BE which is "OK at best" this year

Their best win is Rutgers ;) sorry once Myles graduates they will be done. Willard’s antics are up

That was a bad one, no doubt. But there is still time for them to turn it around. Got to get to .500 or better in league and win a couple in the tournament. If they don’t make it, they will look at the DePaul games and St. Louis game with regret. DePaul has improved, but you can’t lose both.

the wins over Maryland and Kentucky are really big wins if they can get to 500 in league. Despite their recent collapse, NCAA committee values big OOC wins

Yes, definitely. And they value neutral court wins against other highly rated P5 teams.

Really strange how the wheels have appeared to come off for the Hall. I’ve not followed them closely. Has Powell hit a slump? Chemistry problems?

From my distance, it looks like other teams have figured out how to take out Powell or at least neutralize him and they haven’t been able to come up with an alternative.

They are in severe trouble when their coach benches all starters with 11 minutes left in the half----even the nit may be a problem. Royal jinx started when their fans belittled RU

You know they're feeling this losing streak when you get 17 posts in a thread like this without anyone dropping in to say FU

I still think they're a First Four team that could end up in the sweet sixteen with the right draw, but could just as easily end up losing a first round NIT game in front of 3,000 at the Rock

They would have to really really collapse to not get in the tournament. As previously mentioned in this thread, the Maryland and Kentucky wins are huge. The bubble screams mediocrity every year. I can’t predict how SHU will finish, but they should be able to play slightly above average the rest of the way to get a bid

They are so inconsistent. Lose by 23 to Nebraska, get swept by DePaul, yet beat KY in NYC and MD on the road.

3-5 in conference? No way they deserve to play for a championship.
Oh sorry, wrong sport.

Back on topic - SHU sucks. Williard "cheated" for Class of 2014. Never forget.

Powell had 7 TO's at one point. Willard was so frustrated by the effort he pulled the entire starting 5 early in the 2nd Half.

SH is good when Powell is on a hot streak, like he was vs RU in the 2nd half. No or a cold Powell and it's a completely different team.

St. John’s needs to turn it around too. 3-5 in conference. But they have 15 wins already so there’s time.

St Johns also goes to Duke this weekend. Shoot well there and play a close game will be huge for them.

There was a thread about Kenpom and "luck", which a month ago was deemed "good teams make themselves lucky or something like that". I still wonder about the poor defense RU played on Powell and the non Geo foul down 3 with 3 minutes left as a precautionary tale. Add to that the St John's miracle non call and how far off was the "lucky" factor.

Can't see them playing this bad the rest of the year. Strangest standings ever....8 teams are essentially tied for 3rd in the Big East with 3 wins....teams are 3-4 or 3-5 all tied somehow. Anyone who can guess what teams emerge from that pack of teams, let me know.

I do enjoy when they lose, especially in that nature.

Once Myles is gone, theyre done.
It’s funny because I remember 3 rutgers fans saying this exact same thing when Delgado and co. graduated...now they’re a young team supposed to be in a rebuild and already in the mix for another bid

Also have better players coming in than rutgers next year, but let’s not talk about that right now

The needs of each school are different. Rutgers needs a floor general more than anything else since Rutgers signed several quality players last year. SH needs more of everything because of graduation losses.

Btw, I wouldn't count that bid too quickly.

Seton hall graduates one guy and his name isn’t Myles Powell...I just said in the mix for a bid which is a success in itself considering where seton hall was picked to finish...

Rutgers erased a 17 point deficit to SHU in the second half, Powell came in clutch and hit 1 big shot at the end but when he’s not on his game they aren’t good at all.

Earlier this season it looked like Powell was a lock to jump to the pros after this year. I haven't followed shu much after RU game, but sounds like he's in a real slump lately. Any thoughts on whether he stays or goes now?

This is the opinion of a seton hall fan: I don’t think it mattered how well Powell played this season, he was never going to leave early...he’s only 6-1 or 6-2, not a PG and not athletic enough to hang with the pros

Now that he’s struggling, Im positive you’ll see him back next year unless something odd happens

That is probably true. Willard should never have said that Powell was the best player in the country. He is very good but he is not the best player in the entire country.

Willard says things...A LOT of things. Hyperbole is his thing and I’m pretty sure Powell played his best ball after that...I think teams have just figured him out and the rest of the team is panicking

The only problem is Powell has no path to get better towards a pro-NBA career, unless he ultimately starts playing like Kemba Walker as a scoring PG.

Right now he's not going to get any better in college, playing as an undersized SG. His goal should be to come back and play some mix of PG, improve his handle as a distributor, which will take him out of his comfort zone and ultimately require Willard to build the program around him, which probably doesn't make sense.....other than the goal of getting a degree, i don't see him improving as a SG by staying in school.

Powell will go down as a great college player/scorer, that breaks records as a unique player. Similar to Wisconsin's Ethan Happ and a couple of other 4 year players that dominate college, but just lack a true spot at the next level today.

Their bat signal thing isn’t as strong as the State Penn one is for Football.

Which is fine by me.
