Not surprised. 49ers will likely welcome him back with open arms

Shocker. Is he obligated to go back to 49ers?

Yes. He is still under contract. The years on the contract are not for calendar years but years of playing time.

From what I read on the 49ers boards, nobody really knows if he plans on coming back or not. He's said he wants to, but the 49ers GM isn't really sure. And nobody knows what kind of physical shape he's in.

Maybe the new regime does not want a quitter. Maybe harbaugh will hire him.
It's become very clear that the NFL is the last in line to protect the long term health of players. If Davis needed to take time to gauge his physical and mental commitment then so be it. If he stayed in shape he'll have plenty of offers....even Richie Incognito is playing (and playing well). Davis is no reprobate. I hope he has 5 more great years.

No, no team would want a guy who took a year off to gauge his health, they will though take a murderer. This is a silly post. AD can still contribute and if not the 49'ers, he will have a long line of teams looking to hire him for his services of protecting their teams biggest asset.

Oooh. Good word. Not one you see every day on football forums.
