....is it ever going to end? The entire team. Hyatt missed one from under the basket in the 1st half, with nobody on him and not moving, by about 2-feet SMDH ughhhhh! Just one example but it's got to frustrate the daylights out of Pikes! I was ecstatic about almost everything else last night but this, sorry, this just STRESSES ME THE F OUT lol!

Also the missed foul shots.

Almost everyone in my section kept yelling this after every missed layup! 😂

Analytically speaking, it's better to take 36 shots at the rim(20-36) and 16 mid range(3-16), 8-20 from 3pt, than 16 at the rim and 36 mid range. Our Defense and our choice of shots is what moved us up from 50 to 43 in Ken Pom, and up in other computer rankings. Mid range is the worst shot to take over the rim or 3s.

It brought back some bad memories from the early games last year.

Agree with Blind. Get to the rim when you can. The only easier shots are foul shots.

$#1t happens at times
Missed layups aren't acceptable, but do happen at times.
I worry more about the final score then if a loss look at the missed shots and free throw shooting

For the Columbia game, won't get overly excited over the win, but won't get all doom and gloom over the easy shots that were to hard to make.
Just expect improvement to be made so that doesn't happen when playing tougher opponents.

Good stats. Curious how many missed shots at the rim were on each possession. We had 16 offensive rebounds so some of those misses may not have hurt us at all, if we got the rebound and scored anyway.

It’s randomness and if you’ve played some basketball you know it just happens. And there’s another team defending those shots too. People who complain about this sound to me like they’ve never played the game… or, to be more charitable, maybe they’ve just forgotten how hard it can be.

Every team misses a lot of baskets that’s why shooting %’s are less than 50%. Getting good shots is a very good sign. Getting a good shot is the hard part. Take that as a positive.

Finishing in traffic around the rim isn't a given. It's extremely difficult. RHJ was a gifted finisher. Hyatt and Mag are not. And unless Cliff is throwing down a dunk, neither is he. We're going to have a fair share of missed "chippies"

I did play basketball. My entire life. None of which has anything to do with the fact that division one, power five college basketball players, shouldn’t be missing as many shots as we miss on an incessant basis, year after year like we did the other night, from less than 3-5 feet. If you haven’t noticed that I don’t know what you’ve been watching.

Again, ecstatic with the outcome, all I wanted to do is not be stressed out at the end of the game like we have been too many times in the recent past of games as such, and I wasn’t. The only thing that stress me out with the damn missed chippies lol!

You're forgetting that division one, power five college basketball players are being defended by division one, power five college basketball players.

I seriously doubt we've missed an abnormally higher % than most other teams. That stat would be reflected in our shooting %, which it isn't. Our misses are just amplified bc you're rooting so hard for RU.

I'd bet that we have and am simply amazed that a couple of you haven't noticed this problem. Oh well.
