Simplistic, Black and White observation on todays game

"This now a glaring coaching issue" how so ? Wide open shots, 2 for 13 , coaches don't take shots , these were wide open looks that weren't even close to doing down. Our lay- up % is atrocious. you can't play in this league and spot teams15-20 points in the first 5-7 minutes. We are not playing strong physical BB, rebounds swatted out of "soft hands" opponents driving the lane like there's no one home.
we are not gritty and are playing-pussy ball in a big boys league. Some of this may be coaching but not the shooting. This team has enough talent to win games, but need to ply with more grit, intensity, and energy, especially earlier while they are sleep walking the first 7 minutes of the game
The Big is not a finesse league this team needs to grow some stones.

We scored over 70 in back to back games. We also rebounded well the last 2 games. The fact is we’re not good enough on the defensive end. I think we’ll soon see JMike, A Will, Simpson, Mag and Cliff starting. Thats our best defensive group.
On kenpom we are #231 in offense and #14 in defense.

Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. Even though we are frustrated with the lack of offensive flow and we don’t share the ball well, we do get plenty of open looks. We simply don’t make them. I think Pike will eventually waive the white flag on his push for more offense and revert back to his defense first mentality.

He needs to work on defense or his minutes will continue to dwindle.

Agreed.
I can't believe he just sat there on the bench and let Iowa start the 2nd half shooting 9 for 10.

Didn't stop a single basket that whole stretch. That type of defense just isn't getting it done.

It is amazing how many open looks we give up compared to how few we get ourselves.
And we don't convert enough of our few open looks.
Then add in the number of O rebounds the other team gets and our margin for victory is very small.

The entire offense doesn’t work because we don’t have a penetrating guard. I thought that’s exactly what we were getting in Noah. Nope — he’s worse than the other guys.

Watch him on every defensive possession when he is in. That's what I do. I want to make it clear I am rooting for him but when he is in our defense gets bad. There was like 3 or 4 possessions in a row, one his guy scored, the next his guy got the rebound, passed they scored, the third he was too soft on his man, easy pass to a guy they scored, 4th was another mixed box out.

This team hasn't had this kind of inexperience at guard since 2018-19 running Pike's offense. This is a very black and white observation, we don't have any returning point forwards from 22-23 on the team that can dribble, bring the ball up and run the offense the way we've had it easy for 4 straight years with multiple guard/wing types that knew and ran the offense.
