Hows that coaching thing working out for Mullin? Just got stomped at home to No.341 (Pom Ranking) Delaware State.

I think the Johnnies are now only 2-5. I listened to the last 10 minutes on the radio. I think they thought all they had to do was show up. Delaware State was 1-5 and had lost 5 in a row. I think their opening game W was against a D-2 team. It proves again that a team must come to play every night. Mazzini comes off the bench and Sima seems to be struggling a bit as well.

Watched St Johns vs. Minnesota and they reminded me of past Rutgers teams....basically playing street ball, chucking the ball at the rim, not getting back on defense, etc.

what will they now blame? past years it was injuries, suspensions, etc...while lecturing us about how they were doing just dandy in recruiting and how we should accept getting scraps...
There have been a long line of HoF or good players who came back to coach their alma mater only to fall flat...Drexler at UH, Lowe at NCSU...even EJ here as much I hate saying that...will Mullin buck that trend?
we won at DePaul...no excuses to them if lose to the Blue Demons...

Valpo 65 URI 62 makes me smile more than the St Johns score.
Why on earth did URI agree to play at Valparaiso? That seems like poor scheduling to me.

Poor scheduling by SJU. Played 5 games in 11 days and only last night's was at home.

They lost at Minnesota, then traveled to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis where they lost to Michigan State, VCU and ODU. Then travel home and 4 days later play Delaware State. Probably should have had 2 more days off, kids are probably mentally and physically a bit ragged.

They're at Tulane Friday, wouldn't shock me if they lost there.

Only wins are Bethune Cookman (MEAC) and Binghamton (American East).

Behind the scenes, Mullin lost Slice Rohrssen, the dynamite assistant that is an Ace recruiter and likely helped land the bulk of their existing freshman like Ponds and others....they had a "disagreement" and Slice and Mullin parted ways earlier this year. That appears to be more about Mullin than Slice.....Slice doesn't have an ego reputation to my knowledge.

It remains to be seen whether SJU can recruit at the high level of this past class, but in the Big East, they shouldn't be at the bottom of that conference. It's an improved conference and has shut down criticism from folks like me that expected a eventual decline (in a way, they are still declining when they play Power 5 schools, the matchups don't favor the Big East), but SJU should at least be middle of the pack in that league. When the league plays each other, the games are very entertaining and competitive, but it's hard to gauge how good they are, most of the league doesn't have size and depth up front......it's a guard heavy league.....SJU definitely has guards, so they should be OK.

I think they will be fine next year, they will learn with a lot of freshmen this year and I'd expect better play in January/February vs late November....if they aren't improving by the end of the season, Mullin is going to have a tough time turning them around.....I'm also questioning Mullin's choices of assistant coaches, it doesn't seem like a strong bench....the mention of Eddie Jordan 2.0, might be accurate....

Isn't Francesa a Johnnies fan? Let's hear him bash someone else for a change.

Chris Mullen is Eddie Jordan part II

Maybe worse. Mullen has much less coaching experience. Last year when they had Mullen miked up in the huddle during our game it was laughable. No X's, no O's -- his advice was something like, guys we have to play harder.

what about that Johnnies fan who always shows up to tell us we are not getting a recruit (michstfr) or some other horrible news. He's a no show

St. John's is following the same downward path as Uconn and BC. Syracuse will be next and then hopefully SHU.
