So according to this booster

If those names are any indication, then we wont be hiring someone who moves the needle. Thats just not hte price range that needle moving candidates live in.

THe timing of the two rumors makes no sense. It says here that Hobbs has interviewed Cristobol and Diaco. Hobbs has been on the job since Monday afternoon. So if he interviewed those 2 it had to be Tuesday. The rumors about major, top candidates being looked at broke yesterday afternoon.

So this all happened in one day. Means that either they are looking at everyone (most likely) since it would make sense that Diaco and Cristobol would be easy to get in in one day (or the very next day if they reached out Monday), and it would take longer to get the others in. Or possibly they interviewed Diaco and Cristobol and realized they needed to go bigger, which then got floated to the donors yesterday afternoon to gauge support.

The timing just doesn't make sense for it to be that they reached out to Richt or whomever, and then contacted DIaco and Cristobol after that, and got them in for an interview in a matter of hours.

we all seem to have "connected boosters" and each of our boosters are telling us something different. I think the common thread between all of the boosters is that no one has a clue and everyone is working off of rumor and things they read on a bathroom wall.

If we have so many connected boosters, then why don't we have better facilities? That is the question you should ask your boosters the next time they give you tidbits of information.

Whats he got the Mario C doesnt? Wnhy would you take a guy who MIGHT prove to be a good HC and recruiter, when you can get a guy who has proven to be a good HC and recruiter?

Diaco has head coaching experience at a higher level than Cristobal and more recent head coaching experience. The AAC is better than the Sun Belt. Diaco also has coordinator experience at a major program. He is actively recruiting RU's recruiting areas (NY/NJ/PA) right now.

Cristobal turned down RU in the recent past. What would his commitment be over here?

Golden prob most realistic choice. Has a ton of experience and can recruit. Wasn't a great fit in Miami and hopefully his northeast background and connections will help. He would be super motivated after being fired by Miami he knows if he doesn't succeed here he may never get another head coach opportunity.
You just gave the exact reason Mark Richt would not be a good fit here. Golden has most of his recruiting contacts in the northeast. He would be in a much better position to recruit here than he did at Miami. The second part of your post is spot on. Golden is definitely motivated to succeed because this could be his last opportunity to get a head coaching gig.

The only thing I am sure of is none of us have any idea. I think these two are masters of deception. But it's fun to continue to speculate.
Very good point. Hobbs and Brown are very politically minded and skilled. The only info that will leak out is what they want to leak out.

Makes plenty of sense. Hobbs talked ot the guys on the phone on Tuesday, while also reaching out to guys who he likely knows will reject his offer. If they dont, then what happened - he wasted an hour each in interviews. If the big names turn us down as they probably will, we can move quickly to get a guy in here.

I don't know man, lots of rich folk take Amtrak to Newark and the PATH to the WTC and Wall Street.

True, the rich take Amtrak to PATH. The wealthy take a helicopter in. RU needs a few wealthy boosters.

That's kind of what I was getting at. The only way it makes sense if if they are reaching out to everyone all at once. It doesn't make sense that they exhausted the Richt/Schiano level, and have already moved to the Diaco/Cristobol level.

And yet a random dude on the Round Table knew that Herman and Flood were getting fired before hand.

The thing is - they are all talking to people. Agents, people around these other coaches. They cant not. Those people talk to other poeple and so on and so on.

Mark Richt has the name to sell himself. Golden was coming off of a couple of good years at Temple. Not at all similar.

Higher level sure - but less success at a program that has had recent success. The coordinator thing - who cares - Cristobal is at Alabam right now. And how is Diaco's recruiting in NJ going - hes got one guy in the NJ top 40 (#21) - not exactly inspiring.

THe way I see it - none of the $2 million guys are going to be that good here. I want the guy who is going to leave the most talent behind when he gets canned or we finally have the money to upgrade.

Der - That was before Hobbs took over. I'm sure they will let out info, but it will be by design.

From what I remember when PSU interviewed both BOB and Franklin, it was initially done via Skype. BOB was in the playoffs. So I imagine with championship games
still to be played a lot of coaches are not physically interviewing the first round.

The fact that not a single person on this Board including those who claim to be in the know had a hint that Barchi had hired our new AD last Friday leads me to believe that Rutgers for once is keeping things close to the hip. Unless the booster was Greg Brown, I think you were being taken for a ride.

I shared a train ride in with a "connected" booster who says that we've only had interviews with Mario C and Bob Diaco. No meeting with Golden yet. Supposedly the new AD hasn't even had a phone call with GS who has indicated only to Greg Brown that he'd potentially be interested in coming back.

Anyone hear anything different?

Where was the train headed, Subway?

** the guy your son met doesn't know anymore than you or I and his info sounds way off on top of it.

Well ... ONE poster appeared to know (though that poster was in the Round Table) ... the "pool guy" who generated the legendary thread over on the Round Table. Supposedly getting that information from pillow talk with a cheating significant other of a very connected person.

I thought it was Hobbs that does all the cheating.

Oh.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
